Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth - Alpha Centauri sequel announced!

As above mate it's borked for high Hz screens. You could set it to 60Hz before launching for now...

Doesnt work. I've tried setting my desktop res to 60hz but ingame it still defaults to 1280x1024 max. Even changed it in the ini which did nothing.

What a joke

You could try uninstalling, setting to 60Hz then re-installing ? But of a hassle but it might work...

£20 seems a bit dear for what it is though. The base is honestly just Civ 5.

Not to pick on you MooMoo, plenty of others have said it too but isn't £20 just right for something just between an expansion & a full game ?
Some companies are trying to creep AAA PC games up to £40 (although anyone willing to mail order a physical copy never need pay more than £30).
So lets say new releases are about £30 (for AAA) & expansions are £15 - ish. Pricing on this seems OK given its a least as close to a new game as to an expansion.

Enjoying this so far - the freeform tech tree especially, plus, yes, the all new skin, orbital units seem intriguing (early days for me yet).

Also, I'm probably not with the majority here but I kind of preferred Civ 5 pre-expansions. I got a bit overwhelmed with all the stuff they added, found myself pulled in too many directions at once (especially with the addition of religion). In a way its refreshing to be on the base game without so many different demands.

Well shooting laser beams from space is the highlight so far. Very satisfying :).

Anyone else using a Logitech keyboard with LCD screen? Even with the Beyond Earth applet turned off the game is still changing my keyboard back light colours :). New techs or virtues make my keyboard go pink.

Actually it might just be the LCD light not the key back lights that change..

Hows trading in this one?

Civ 5:
Me: I need 2 wheat, can I have it?
AI: I want 40 iron, 3 cotton, 3 silver, 2 gems and 100gpt in exchange.
Me: Get ****ed

Trading in BE:
AI: I give 1 favor (whats a favor?) for 50gpt.
Me: Ok then, accept.
AI: No i changed my mind, i also want now a city, some geothings, and a load of other resources.

But it wasn't priced at £20, it was priced at £30. Its just that thanks to various offers many of us got it for closer to £20. Anyway, I don't see it as relevant as I think it's worth full price, but just saying.... :-)

I'm enjoying it so far, though still learning so not really playing with much of a strategy. Really struggling with health at the moment.

I paid £25 from game, for a steam key, no special offers. I agree I'm enjoying the game :-)

I see it as health = Hapiness in civ 5 but without luxury resources to fix it. So I think we have to expand slower. The clinic seems a vital early game choice. I'm on my 1st go, concemtrating on growing 1 city for a bit, buying cheap virtues & expanding science.

That said, I'm having problems with the Aliens. The barbarians were always an annoyance but these are more varied & dangerous, which I prefer, But I don't really have an answer yet. Loathe to dedicate too much resources to fighting so early.
