***Sid Meier's Civilization VII***

The devs saying the game is in early access while charging £100 for the privilege. Nice one...
Did they say that? It’s advanced access for founders (and deluxe) edition at the moment from what I can see on steam.

That's already a bit of a turn off for me. Like you, I like big expansive maps and being able to establish myself without tripping over other Civs within a few turns and then having them crowd me before I can even get a couple of cities down.

That's exactly what happened to me in my first game. Barely got my second city down before being swamped by enemy forces which took the city.

That's me just now. Got my starting city and one town but I can't get out or do anything as I need to keep building spear men to hold off the constant wave of incoming attacks.

got a short time playing last night when a got home (2-3 hours) game crash 2 time when i first started playing (i had changed some setting to suit me) but once i went back to the default setting it ran well.
graphic look nice, but the interface just seem chunky, if i was selecting stuff on one of the tech/skill/culture trees there was no feed back that i had selected said thing, will take time getting used to it

Hey everyone! We're officially in Early Access, and from the entire Firaxis studio, we just wanted to take a moment to say... thank you! Seriously.

The studio’s just released a message I hope you all take a look at here: https://civilization.2k.com/civ-vii/news/message-from-firaxis-games/

But, I also wanted to take the time to summarize some major highlights and notes from your community team:

I played multiplayer and we rarely knew it was end of turn, there's no sound associated.
Yes! The sound in general is mixed wrong for the game play, I like the music direction but there isn't a strong indicating noise that something has happened, like 4 had that loud big when a tech had been researched and the end of turn noise was prominent. It needs to made a little more gamey.

Just installed and set up on the Steam Deck, it's incredibly well designed for that at least. Can see the immediate feedback leading to an update to the UI for computer based play as the mouse and keyboard doesn't feel optimal.

A pity they didnt design it the other way round... ie. make it incredibly well designed for PC based play (as thats where the majority of their userbase is) and then update the UI for steamdeck based play

yeah it's a bit irritating they went that way round, confident they can sort it out soon enough though

It's much easier to make a UI designed for a gamepad work with a mouse than it is to do it the other way round; but for a game like Civ I think they should have been going for parallel design rather than trying to make one size fit all. It's not like the game is built with a small budget.

I bet there are a whole bunch of developers and testers grumbling "I told you so" right now as FireAxis reacts to those early reviews.

lol , got gifted the founder's edn but it won't launch as my CPU is deemed too old (i7 920). Since i can't refund guess it time to upgrade finally.
Thibk I'll just look on the bright side as I waiting to see how the rx9070 performed before taking the plunge of building a new PC so perhap the game will actually be patched to a better state by then

i7 920 is ambitious for a game like this.

I played though the first age last night and it’s very much a CIV game IMO. I’ll play the second age no tight and see what’s what.

Im all for weird and interesting leaders the absolute more the merrier. I'd love there to be 100 choices by the end. As long as they are full animated and voice scripted.

I’m perfectly happy with having interesting leaders - just not at the expense of the “classics”

Had this ordered on CDKeys as it was only 41 quid and thought why not, I'll give it a go, if its good I'll get my monies worth. Huge fan of Civ 4 and 5. Didn't really get into 6 though. Got email today "Civ7 available". Go to get my key. Not available until 11th. Epic troll ;(
