Did they say that? It’s advanced access for founders (and deluxe) edition at the moment from what I can see on steam. The devs saying the game is in early access while charging £100 for the privilege. Nice one...

Think I'm going to break out Civ6 and wait this out a few months. It's been agggggess since I've played a civ game anyways so it'll all be fresh again to me.
That's already a bit of a turn off for me. Like you, I like big expansive maps and being able to establish myself without tripping over other Civs within a few turns and then having them crowd me before I can even get a couple of cities down.
Theres definitely some issues, the lack of larger maps for one
That's me just now. Got my starting city and one town but I can't get out or do anything as I need to keep building spear men to hold off the constant wave of incoming attacks. That's exactly what happened to me in my first game. Barely got my second city down before being swamped by enemy forces which took the city.

Hey everyone! We're officially in Early Access, and from the entire Firaxis studio, we just wanted to take a moment to say... thank you! Seriously.
Yes! The sound in general is mixed wrong for the game play, I like the music direction but there isn't a strong indicating noise that something has happened, like 4 had that loud big when a tech had been researched and the end of turn noise was prominent. It needs to made a little more gamey.I played multiplayer and we rarely knew it was end of turn, there's no sound associated.
A pity they didnt design it the other way round... ie. make it incredibly well designed for PC based play (as thats where the majority of their userbase is) and then update the UI for steamdeck based playJust installed and set up on the Steam Deck, it's incredibly well designed for that at least. Can see the immediate feedback leading to an update to the UI for computer based play as the mouse and keyboard doesn't feel optimal.
