I'm playing SH2 on PS2 (emulation) and it's brilliant, rendering at 12x native (8K) and it's soooooo good compared to native PS2 res:

8K but barely utilising either CPU or GPU!

The Enhanced PC edition is even better. Phenomenal what that team did.

Yep cdkeys is live just got mine 34.1GB download good luck everyone hope its a great experience...going out for a 3-4 hour blast in my car while it downloads.

Managed to get half hour in, not feeling particularly great and I have been up on and off through out the night, finally waking up at 4. Otherwise, I would have continued.

Early thoughts, this remake is amazing, there is one thing currently bugging me though and it is the switch between 30fps and 60fps for cutscenes. Other than that, the stutters are not that frequent or annoying (in my experience).

Looking forward to getting stuck into this properly.

Morning swim sesh complete, code obtained and now downloading...

lol you all night beasts!!! Doesn't that kill you for work on Monday? :p

Blimey the HDR settings are wild… and by that I mean good?

When I booted up the right most image was almost jet black, turning up the HDR mid luminance seems to have worked wonders.

I’ve also reduced the ‘min luminance’.

Worth playing around with I think, there’s no point having a game so dark that you can’t see anything.

I beg to differ. I play this game 6-8 hours every night. I do get interrupted with some imagery now and then, but other than that it is a very refreshing game to play :p

Blimey this game is pushing my rig pretty hard! 3090 and 5950x.

I think I’m settling for now with the following settings:

RTX: off
DLSS: quality
Graphic preset: high
FPS cap via control panel: 50fps

Seems the best balance to me. 30fps is totally silly… no need to go more than 60fps, but you need to ride the sweet spot of maxing the GPU but not then getting drops and stutter. I’m hovering between 48-50fps most of the time so that’ll probably do me for now.

One thing I never seen to get happy with in games is hair. It can look oversharpened so easily but can then look jaggy as well. Interested to hear how others have set it!

By comparison I had preset on High with RT and was getting 60fps with a few minor dips here and there.

Performance is pretty heavy for me, I'll have to do a bit of playing around tonight when I start properly to see if there's anything that will help me out. 2080ti + 7800X3D @ 1440p and it's ranging anywhere between the low 50s to mid 70s, that's with DLSS on and dynamic resolution. Ray tracing is off the table I think, that drops me down into the 30-40s. Dropping down to medium nets me good gains and feels a lot smoother, I'm sure the DF video with some proper comparisons will help me make a decision later on.

In the advanced tab right at the bottom of the list there is a sharpening filter setting, I found dropping that down/turning off helped the aliased hair out a little bit.

I take it back - more FPS makes it much nicer. Have reduced settings to hit a constant 75 fps.

The low FPS was reminding me of PS3 era GTA game…! :o

Sometimes the game looks great, at other times it looks OK. I think it’s hard to make all of this ‘grey’ look good and balanced tbh. A lot of performance for some foggy streets!

I’ve turned the HDR off to try and lower the contrasts and give a more rounded overall visual impression.

Also, there’s a lot of transversal stutter. S’OK but something you have to make peace with.
