beautifully sweet, deep and fruity

I'm not teasing you but I'd probably lose my job if I said what is is exactly.

Snippet of a cgi

roaster in the shop? nice :) there used to be a place when I was a kid that would roast coffee in their window on Guildford highstreet, it stunk the whole area out and despite not drinking coffee when i was 10 I loved that smell!

Can't you tell us vaguely where / when its going to be? London or other?

Had a pop to monmouth coffee at borough market yesterday morning and loved it, also did flat white and was disappointed, im sure its a great coffee but it was far too fruity for me.

ended up going to monmouth street and having another coffee and trying out another couple and loved 2 so got a kilo of each, im sure it will be past its best before i get finished but i wont be down again any time soon so got what i could while i was there

first shot attempt went better then expected (in my new espresso cups too)

How was the first day of the coffee festival, for those of you who were there? Will they be livestreaming Sunday's finals again this year?

We've got the same UK Cup Tasting and UK Latte Art champions as last year. Good competitions though. Some cracking art done today.

Lots of other great stuff going on too. Only one I've yet to try that I really want to is St Ali from Australia. They've air freighted over some coffee. I want some. ;)

We're live streaming everything this year.

In lovely, sparkly HD too. Burning through the bandwidth. :D

Tomorrow should be fun, Brewers Cup, Ibrik *which should be amazing ;)* and the always entertaining, Coffee in Good Spirits. Lets hope the judges don't end up like this again. Good old Vic and Rob. ;)

Ustream coming on shortly for UK Brewers Cup.

You can also follow my livetweets on @scaeUK

*goes back to coffee cup and looking like he's doing something important. ;)*

I'm not a massive fan of pre-packed beans, but I must say the Lavazza Rosso beans are actually pretty good - a really smooth, glossy crema and a rather nice, well rounded chocolatey taste - well worth keeping in for use when you run out of the fresher/better stuff :) I've never really liked the standard black bag of Lavazza, but the red is good!

Yeah. These are my favourite kind of cheap bean. I've been on decent stuff for the last few months though and I'll be trying to stick to it for a while :)

Just watching the Coffee Shop Hot Shots on bbc2 and surprise surprise has precisely no content about 'coffee'

On another point what counter top would you want to see in a high price point coffee shop.

Difficult question to answer as it depends entirely on the style and decoration of the shop. I love the rustic look of exposed brickwork and a wood counter. It would be easier to answer if we were able to visit this location ;).
