Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

Anyone else use a Gaggia Classic and struggle making decent microfoam? It's the only thing that lets it down imo, just not enough oopmh behind it and never lasts. Considering upgrading to something slightly better after Christmas... not sure what yet though...

Gaggia PID

Fitted a PID on the Classic yesterday.

What do you guys think of this brew machine on Kickstarter?

Looks nice but not as elegant looking as this:

good work, looks very neat :)

Whats the grinder you've got there?

The kickstarter coffee machines keep looking better and better - I wonder if flibster ever got his through... As tempting as they are i'd rather wait and see how they turn out now!

In other news got my pact v60 though (late as i've not been at home). Great package for £7, and the coffee doesn't seem too bad:

Looks like a Mahlkonig K10 or K30 to me. *hangs nerdy head in shame*

No. Went for a refund instead. The 240v machine didn't look like it was ever going to appear.

There's another Kickstarter coffee maker that has been funded and is apparently looking for more investment to actually get the products made. Something called the Invergo. Looking for another $300'000 in order to get the production underway. Not something that was mentioned at all during the kickstarter.

I won't back any automated brewer for pour over. I enjoy making it too much.

Have upgraded to a Compak K10, maybe a little overkill for the home, but looking forward to getting it dialled in and seeing what improvements it offers :)

Did you order the keep cup as an extra item as I didn't get one of those in my welcome pack?

Are they actually any good as a travel mug?

nope, just turned up, guess i got lucky!

I've actually already got a larger one and they are pretty goo but don't insulate in the slightest - they aren't really a travel mug as such, rather just a paper cup replacement.

I've decided to give HasBean a little rest for a while, so can anyone recommend some alternative roasters who have a good selection of coffee beans for a reasonable price, and offer good customer service?

I'm using Redber at the moment, I've also been using the small batch coffee company. I had gone off hasbean quite a while ago tbh.

I've just placed an order with Redber so I'll see what they're like. Why did you go of HasBean?

I just had a run of coffees that I didn't particularly like, just a bit nondescript. I also never really got over being told that natural coffee wasn't for me after having an undrinkable bag of coffee. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I've had plenty that I have liked.
