I've had a couple of decaff's from online roasters (like Rave) and they've been ok. You could try finding a roastery somewhere near you that might let you sample some to find one that suits you. I don't know much about decaff, but there are a couple of different processes on making decaff and you might find one suits you better in either taste or caffeine content.

I'll pop into a couple of local roasters and see what they say, worst case Rave it is.

Does anyone here drink..... Decaf? I feel bad asking but sadly, it's been assessed that caffeine is causing me health problems. But I LOVE coffee. Is there such thing as a good decaf bean? :(

e; I'm aware that decaf still contains caffeine, it's not a deal breaker, it's not a huge issue if I consume small amounts however 2 Coffees a day is causing issues.

Try Coffee Compass range of de-caf, by far the nicest I've had and I've tried three of them so far. Phone them up and they'll guide you in terms of taste etc for your likes.

(had come up before) but espresso extraction has less caffeine than drip.
Do the small boys Hasbean/rave/compass have the pockets for the best in class reduced caffeine production solutions ? (I genuinely don't know)

I've got an eBay alert for when the Sage Dual Boiler

I've seen them go for £600 ish so for that price I don't think they're too bad at all, especially given their RRP of circa £1,200.

Those words mean nothing to me I'm afraid (hopefully one day!), but the Sage doesn't really look bad to my layman eyes. Besides, I just want to better my coffee game.

E61 is a type of grouphead, one of the most popular for its performance and reliability.

Rocket is referring to "Rocket Espresso" a popular brand of high end espresso machines and compartimento is one of their domestic/semi-pro models.

I think it's Rocket Appartamento, just incase anyone gets stuck googling :)

I have one and I love it. I paid £700 second with a decent grinder so they can be really good value for money. Worth looking into if you're thinking of the Sage DB :)

browsing ... by coincidence someone asking over the odd's on gumtree £850, for a sage

probably wouldn't touch it, cost apart, clearly they weren't the user .. no shots of water tank or portafilter gasket to show maintenance level, or pulling a shot.
this HX £250 fracinos probably better

decaffination https://coffeeconfidential.org/health/decaffeination/
even though they say "Overall the type of roast you buy is going to have more of an impact on the taste than the decaf method."
would be interesting to know what process the small companies use.

Solvent-based processes
  • Indirect-Solvent Process
  • Direct-solvent Process
Non-Solvent Based Processes
  • Swiss Water Process
  • Carbon Dioxide Process

Ha, too late mate - you've got me looking at a Rocket Appartamento...! Getting used to some of the terms, watched a couple of Seattle Coffee Gear's videos on various machines and I think that's my favourite.

You'll get something tasty out of it almost immediately. Within a dozen shots you'll get a feel for what changes the flavour profile in which way, occasionally hitting a real sweet spot by chance, then you'll spend the rest of your life chasing that perfect shot. :)

I’ve heard the machine isn’t that great at espresso due to the grinder but I like the look of it and the minimalism factor. I’ve got a guide from reddit that seems to have made a lot of owners lives a bit easier with it so fingers crossed.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a water filter jug to live in the fridge for using with my Espresso machine and also to use instead of tap water in general.

Any recommendations?

Thx
