Caporegime
Ah, then mine is almost there then, currently 20 seconds. Need to turn the dial a little more, could do with more crema actually.
niiiice - but how often do you polish it?
Many thanks. There aren't many UK distributors for Rancilio, the going price seems to be £375 for the Silvia. It sounds a lot, but IMO is one of the best home machines available. Waaaay better than Gaggia. The brass boiler in the Silvia means 1) it will last longer 2) you get better heat conductivity.
If gdpayne wants a cheap Silvia, then I think stalking ebay is the best bet.
Could not get enough from 1 grind even with the timer set to max. Just found a point where 2 short grinds does the job.
Hey guyys,
Ordering my beans preground from Hasbean (Espresso grind), but finding I manage to pour a double via the double basket/ barb in about 10 seconds from button on to button off.
I am tamping it down using a fair bit of force (Not loads though) but cannot seem to get it to pour slower... Surely the grind from Steve can't be that far out can it?
-Power on machine and give it 10 minutes to get hot
-Prepare the coffee in the basket and prime the pump in the Gaggia (I do this into the cup I am going to drink the coffee from so the hot water warms the cup)
Not quite on the Espresso subject, but I'm in need of a Coffee solution for work.
Which do you think would be best between:
- An Aeropress
Any ideas guys?
That would be my choice. I've got 2 of them now. One in the office and one in the kitchen. They're cheap and fantastic.

- Swissgold 'One cup'

I'd go with either a Aeropress (which do have single use filters, but there pretty cheap and you can get/make a swissgold one...) or the Caffitiere (which i'd say are underrated personally)
If you wanted to go properly different you could get a chemex or one of those electric stove tops (http://www.gallacoffee.co.uk/acatalog/Easy_Stove-top.html)
It sort of depends what kind of coffee you like, be it drip, espresso, pour over or stove top
Ok I am going to stop using this damn preground and get a grinder.
Is there anywhere in London that I might be able to get a decent Zass grinder?
Ta

Cheers, are the filters in them 1 use? What are they like to clean after use etc?
I would seriously go for the used one on ebay over the new one. I'm not an expert, having only owned one, but I asked around before buying it and the folks on coffeegeek.com and other forums all agree the newer models aren't as good because the grading on the little knob that adjusts the coarseness of the grind isn't as fine. In fact, in the newer models it's stepped, whereas in older ones like the one I got it's a continuous grade.i don't now if this is in London, but at least it´s in UK ,eheheh
