Silverstone 2012

Platinum tickets for Becketts again like last year. Camping in the lively campsite - can't wait.
Had a great time last year!

just got the three day GA tickets confirmed, cant wait

Any tips/advice as to where to head towards on Sunday? I understand they've changed they lay out a lot for GA ticket holders, i..e moved closer/less barriers etc?

Never been to Silverstone, but toying with the idea of a trip up for the Friday and breaking the kids in. I Would say gently but the noise is far from it.

What else runs on the day (no schedule up yet)?

Along with the F1 practice Friday is practice and qualifying for most of the support races, so there will be at least 1, but likely 2 sessions of track time for each of the GP2, GP3 and Porsche Supercup series. I don't know if there is a 4th support series running too this year, it seems to vary.

Won two free tickets through Sky. Regrettably have plans for the Friday and Saturday so will just be attending the race. Located in Stowe I think.

Also going Germany this year...

The garages of the top F1 teams have been moved to the middle of the pit lane for the British GP, so that fans will be able to see them.

At the first race with the new Silverstone pit complex last season the garages of Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and to some extent Mercedes disappeared into the unusual ‘railway cutting’ at the far end of the pitlane, and could not be seen from the spectator area opposite.

If you were planning to sit in the grandstand on the SF straight and are a HRT, Caterham or Marussia fan, you're out of luck.

The designers of the new section need hauling over the coals for that particular **** up.

Love F1!!

Cant make it this year.

Personally Silverstone sucks, although if anyone wants to let me tag along to spa ;)

Design of the building > design of the pitlane. You cant build a long flat building on a slope, so they had to level the ground out. The top end of the pitlane is quite significantly raised up.

Going for the Friday this year with 2 friends. Tickets arrived this morning. Does anyone have any idea what time we should be looking to arrive at? We've got about a 1h 15m drive

Woo, got my tickets too. Liking the outline image on the packaging.

Stuff usually starts around 9am I think, and you can park at the circuit on Friday and the traffic isn't usually that bad. Aiming for 8.30 should be fine.

Apparently there have been issues with tents being destroyed and breaking these past few days. Poles snapping and ripping the tents to shreds a friend told me earlier today. Not good.

Also, aren't they changing the grandstands? Which is why at the moment you couldn't see the left side garages.

hello, like a few people here, this years Silverstone 2012 grand prix will be my first. (3 Day General Admission tickets)

It look slike the general concensus is do your home work and scout the track on the fri/saturday and get there early doors on Sun. Although it seems this year they have made some changes to the track lay out so there's better general admission viewing. Any idea as to where this will be? I.e. they have moved fences etc.

Theres plenty of advice as to where to go, although is there any advice as to places to avoid? I.e. over crowding/view obscured/no action etc?

Many thanks people.

Here's hoping for a Maclaren 1/2 (Button 1st hopefully ;)

I didn't know about any changes, is there a thread with this imfo on? the silverstone site is not advertising these changes.
