Silverstone Fortress FT02B-W Owners, Your thought's please!!!

Here's mine, just testing temps now.

Just so I don't forget, I'll post here and compare temperatures tomorrow when I have everything in.

For reference, my 2600k is at 4.5 GHz, 1.368 VCore.

Lian Li V1200 Case

Idle (flat is roasting, got some things running, nothing strenuous):

CPU - 38, 36, 36, 32
HDD - 38, 35, 35, 37, 37
GPU - 64

Load

CPU - 67, 74, 74, 72
HDD - 37, 36, 35, 37, 37
GPU - 80 (using ATI Tool and it seems to be rising slowly)

Yikes at some of the temps, seems stable though. Let's see what the Fortress does.

Silverstone FT02 Case

Idle (flat still roasting, south facing)

CPU - 36, 36, 36, 34
HDD - 32, 32, 32, 34, 34
GPU - 55

Load:

CPU - 68, 68, 72, 72
HDD - 32, 32, 32, 34, 34
GPU - 67

CPU is only a little lower, more of a difference on the HDDs however the GPU has dropped substantially which I am happy with.

Fans on the low setting as this is how it will be 90% of the time.

Hey MilanoChris what's the noise like? is it very quiet? is it also not that loud on high fanspeed too? wondering how well the noise dampening works.:)

I've got to decide between this and the Raven RV02 white....it's so hard as both perform very well yet the FT02 has sound dampening but is £60 more or so.

Any will beat my current case never the less.(i have Antec 902 fans set to high which are loud and i like the way the dust filters are removed on the FT02 which are a sod to remove on this case.)

The only noise is the air the fans push which is generaly quite smooth and plesent.
I found it to be totaly unobtrusive whilst on in the background.
On high its a fair bit noisier but I cant see anyone needing to ever run the fans on high unless you have somehow managed to fit a small nuclear reactor inside.

Performance wise both the Raven and Fortress are identical, it all comes down to asthetics really.
I cant see the sound damping in the Fortress making THAT much differnce if im being honest.

I bought the FT02 because I prefer the look and also the filters. Plus, I knew if I bought the Raven I'd regret not getting the FT02.

The FT02 not virtually identical to the RV02-E? Both have filters and the front a little different i suppose?

For me I too am edging to the Raven RV02-e rather than the Rv03 (still not bought it yet) because a part of me is going to regret it if i dont :) So good point.

Your internal layout and kit is similar to mine although that looks like a H70. For the HD did your cabling stretch ok or did you have to use extention to get the length from the PSU to the HD slots?

Good Job - nice clean build btw :)

Sorry, I thought you didn't get the filters on the Raven? I'm not really sure, I have been pretty set on getting the FT02 for a few weeks now.

It is indeed the H70 with the normal Corsair fans running off a Zalman fan controller.

I have 5 HDDs in that pic all connected and one DVD drive (will have to buy a black coloured one now to match, time for BD upgrade I think). I bought 5 hot swap adaptors which allow you to just pull the drives out like a server but the case already had one on so I have one spare. I daisy chained the power with one MOLEX branch from the PSU. I have three plugs, one goes into the adaptor for the AP fans, one goes into HDD 1 which then chains to the remaining drives and the DVD drives, and the final one goes into the Zalman controller to slow down the noisy Corsair fans.

What are you guys using to read temps ?

And when you say load that that mean just the CPU with prime95 or something ?

Cheers

I use Core temp for the CPU, FurMark for the GPU and Speedtest for the HDDs.

Load for CPU is IntelBurnTest, CPU is Furmark and HDDs I just read when things in the case are hot.

When i saw a video review of the Raven white edition it had filters at the bottom which slide out, same as FT02 i think?

Damn it i still can't decide lol.:p

GET THE RAVEN :D
Its internaly identical to the FT02.
Only reason I got the FT02 and not the Raven when I bought mine was the raven didnt come with the AP fans or hotswap drive cage, which it now does.

Plus the white one looks sick :p

Yes the RV02-E is virtually identical to the FT02, think some of the differences is the main chassis material is different and the front design as well. Top grill is slight better ventilated imo due to the design. FTO02 has foam padding which the Raven doesnt. The FT02 is much more sturdier and heavier although it almost double the price.

Milano - was the 5 hot swapable cages expensive if you dont mind can you give us a approx figure ?

I have a fan controller and just leave all my fans on 600rpm which is slightly lower than the low setting using the switches which is 700rpm. I can hardly hear it to be honest and running at high doesn't make a huge difference to temps so not really worth it.

The only fan I really notice when running at load is the viper on my cooler but that is really just the sound of the air being pushed through the fins and isn't obtrusive at all.
