Silverstone ft02

Nope your just sensible.
I chose not to use the strap as it does not look nice & I also don't think it's needed.
To me its a case of SilverStone just making extra sure they dont have anyone coming back to them with smashed M/B & Ram when there customers PSU fall off.
The four screws are all that I feel is needed I have also used the PSU holder that the PSU sits on & screws to the case.

Well now looking at the close up photo I have taken it looks like its as much use as a chocolate tea pot at supporting part of the PSU. Well it was 2am when I finshed the build.

I see the FT02 has won a 'iF product design award 2010' What ever that is ?

Actually that little bracket can support the entire psu, i screwed mine in then installed the bracket and then removed the screws from the psu and that was holding the psu up easily. Had my hand under the psu just in case but it wasn't going anywhere.

Found this pic showing a 5970 installed:

I was doubting it myself when i seen how far down my 295 came in the case. Still looks dodogy though, i wonder how far the intake "snouts" are from those fan blades.

loving the look of this case. whats the deal with the 5.25 bays. any of them convertible with caddies or would heat then be an issue?

also where the cables come out the top across the psu exhaust, any heat problems here? is this case silent ?

torn between the silver fortress 02 and the fractal design titanium ( already ordered but could cancel)

also i hav a corsair h50 cooler, will this be ok for this setup? presuming it will go with the top 120mm fan?

thanks. I am also a bit worried about the placement of the psu, i have a fractal design one on order should i change to a silverstone to make sure it fits? is it secured well, bit worried after seeing that pic of the psu holder broken in this thread.

My PSU is held in by 4 screws (like any normal PSU) and the strap. I will add the small holder when I open it next.

As for cooling mine is on the window ledge above the radiator and its still way cooler than the ANTEC 300 its replaced.

I must open it to see how much dust the filters have stopped.

I have turned my fans right down.
3 x 180mm intake fans from 700/1000rpm to 500rpm
1 x 120mm exhaust from 1200rpm to 900rpm
Have also removed one of the fans from my Noctua NH-U12P SE2 Dual Fan.

With Prime95 running for 1 hour my temps are 50-55c
& with just normal use temps are 30-35c
i7 920 running at stock not overclocked

With the fans at that speed my Hard drive is the loudest part in the case.

Corsair PSU lines up with the vent in the back of the case fine, to me the 4 screws is all you need to keep the PSU in place as it's hanging right down with no sideways presser on the screws.
I have heavier light fittings in my house held in place with 2 screws then the weight of the PSU.

Downsides/Faults

Its a pain when you need to plug something new into the top of the PC as you have to remove the top cover each time & it can be tricky to get the cover back on.

Also to remove the side panels you have to remove the top cover first.

Then theres the lack of space for large Graphics Cards as seen in Gerard's post & cable management.

I am happy with it, the biggest selling point for me was a window on the right handside, the case is also very solid.
