Sim racers - what are you running?

It helps that the 9800X3D is an absolute gaming beast too! Going from 3900X to 5800X3D was a significant upgrade for me. I think it should see me through a few years before needing an upgrade.

There are obviously pros and cons to both triples and VR. I prefer triples myself, reasons including a bigger fov which is an advantage for having things in your peripheral view, also I don't find VR headsets comfortable at all, especially when doing longer sessions of multiple hours. Triples also give the freedom of being able to see my streamdeck buttons, dashboard screen and easily being able to grab my drink etc. I also don't find the clarity on VR all that amazing and find it a bit of a faff in general.

that sounds decent
any chance you've done AM2 in VR? i had to max out everything to get the load off the CPU over to the GPU at first though i noticed my CPU was spiking in the graph , but otherwise , CPU and GPU loads were low, no fps drops or anything

i assume the upgrade would help (ive got a 7600X)

Do I need to change my fanatec gear (podium dd and v3 pedals with v1 handbrake)?: No
Do I fancy seeing how much greener the grass is on the other side: Not sure.

In 2025 that is still a very competent setup. If buying new now (for use on PC) I'd definitely recommend going down the Simucube, Asetek or Simagic routes given that these are all open ecosystems unlike the Fanatec world. I know you can buy adapters and stuff for the Fanatec equipment to make it more open but with the 3 brands I suggested (there are also more) you have the option to use any wheel, wheelbase, pedal and accessory combination you want.

Fanatec gear does still sell very quickly on the likes of facebook marketplace so you'd easily move your current gear on if that was the route you went down.

Do I have disposable cash burning a hole in my pocket ? :p

Where is the 499p model from?

I was at Le Mans in 2023 when the 51 won and I got this print for my sim room, I’d love a model to go with it.

I race in mainly VR, but also have a 34" UW monitor..... is that what you have there? 1 x 34" UW and 2 x 27"

How hard is it to get games running with 2 different size monitors? do you think it's better than 3 x 27" sorry for the barrage of questions lol

Yes, I have the one 34" and two 27" screens. The reason behind it is that I started off with the 34" UW, then decided later on I wanted triples.

Assetto Corsa works perfectly with it, in content manager you can manually adjust the position of where the triple monitor corrections are. ACC works using an app called SRWE to manually change the resolution of a running app, a bit of a pain as it has to be done every time I launch the game, and you sacrifice the ability to have bezel corrections. LMU works by editing the config file to set a custom resolution and has worked superbly, but again you sacrifice being able to use bezel correction.

My plan is to grab another 27" and have matching screens fairly soon to be honest. I'll miss the UW in the middle, but it's going to be the best option moving forward to make things work nicely. I'm thinking of using the 34" as my main desktop monitor and move my old 27" Dell onto the rig as a 4th monitor above the middle one.

ah ok thanks! I only play Iracing really, but it kinda looks better having a big front screen and 2 smaller sides! but I guess the norm is 3 monitors the same so its all setup for that.

See I don't have space for triples so gone for a samsung g9 neo. Nice middle ground (5120x1440, so like having 2 27") and means I can play games without having to mess around with config files and whatnot

There are several different 1:18 499P models available, ranging from £90 up to £500.

I got the Burago 2023 car for £90. The 2024 models are launching later this year- I'll probably add the Yellow 83 car too.

So it appears my load cell on my sim jack pedals has been rubbing on the bar below it which has damaged it.

Whenever I fully pressed down on the brake pedal it was shorting and causing loads of my usb peripherals to disconnect.
Replacement load cell on order from China but I've decided to get new pedals as this is a design fault and will just happen again. I also still need a clutch pedal and it didn't make much sense to me to spend another £100 on a clutch pedal when the brake is likely to fail again.
Picked up the full set of simlab xp1 pedals for £485 delivered, should have them tomorrow fingers crossed

Over the last couple of weeks (since missing out on Daytona 500 due to iRacing licence requirements) I've been getting really into the oval side of the game. The Hyper P1 is an amazing wheel but not ideal for speedway racing so I considered many options. In the end, I settled on buying a Sabelt steering wheel, mechanical QR for my wheelbase and Moza SGP sequential shifter. The setup is so so good (imo of course) but the lack of button box/wheel buttons is a negative. The shifter has 2 buttons on it which I use for "Next black box" and "Open mic" but I'm considering options for either a streamdeck or button box I can mount to the cockpit.

How the rig sits currently:

I'll post this here, but may start a new thread

I am curious, does anyone run AMS2 in VR Via Virtual desktop or any other wireless software ?

please let me know what router you have please, i want to test something. Thanks

Is that a 49 or a 57?

Its the 49". If I was to buy again though I'd probably got for triples. I'm always on the look out for someone selling triples on the sim hardware selling pages but they always seem to be miles away :(

I've had many triple setups and I wouldn't do it again. It's just too much of a pain. There's something really nice about the simplicity of 1 big monitor. In the end I went for a 55 inch OLED and called it quits at that. If I wanted more immersion I just used VR.
