Sim racers - what are you running?

For those using H Shifters, what are you using? I've been eyeing the SHH Newt but production on that is slow seeing as it's 3D printed. Fanatec is my other option but went to hell and back with custom charges with UPS before when I finally got my Clubsport Pedals.

I'm using the Thrustmaster TH8A with a short shift mod. Have to admit, I've been eyeing up the Fanatec purely for the simple switch to sequential.

Digital Motorsports have it in stock and have been getting some great reviews for their service

I recently sold mine on here so was looking for an upgrade, Not too many choices really.

I did look up the Frex GP, so I think I will have to go with that at this rate.

Can't remember if I posted an updated pic since we had our loft done so here's how the race / flying pit is looking. Really pleased with it.
Nice setup. I'm guessing you made that?

Thinking of doing something similar for myself.

Can you please provide me with the dimensions of the desk (height, depth, width) in cm if possible please?

Just picked up a Thrustmaster T500 and pedals as a cheap upgrade from my old G27.

Any must do tips before I use them? Any sources for a cheap shifter which is compatible?

As Brun said, a number of them can be used independently though if you’re using on console to then you’d have to get the Thrustmaster one.

Chris Haye did a good summary not long ago which covers the pros and cons of them.

Don't have any recommendations, but a shifter doesn't need to be compatible, it'll just be seen as an independent device.
My g27 currently connects to the steering wheel, so assume I'll need some serial to usb adapter if I wanted to run it at a separate device.

Been looking at the thrustmaster th8a shifter but that thing isn't cheap.

CEX gets those in now and again and you can usually pick up vouchers cheap off AVF for 85% face value.

Just seen this and doesn't seem that bad for £350 but no Playstation support :(

But as with Fanatec you have to pay all the extras, 5nm base and you have to buy their upgraded PSU to get 8nm.

Waiting to see if Thrustmaster/Logi will enter the DD wheel market now.

The CSL DD is a nice idea, but the '5nm as standard, but buy this bigger psu and its 8nm' is BS, just sell it as an 8nm wheel for slightly more money and stop ruining the planet with more waste and rare metal being used.

It's a bargain for €350 if the quality is good. The old CSL was around 5nm, the CSW 2.x 7-7.5nm. And it's cheaper than both. The CSW 2.0 was around €650 on Black Friday offer when I got that about 5 years ago.

The more recent ones have all lost PlaysStation support. My CSW v2.0 had a failure under warranty and due to lack of available spares they offered to fit v2.5 internals into the existing chassis after checking I wasn't a PlayStation user ... as it lost PlayStation support in the process.

Has it actually be confirmed there's no Playstation support? The article I saw earlier commented about that it doesn't say it is but also doesn't say it isn't. As it seems to be a wheelbase to wrap up the CSL and CSW in to one product, it would be a strange decision to not support Playstation. As it would mean the only wheel that now does is the podium DD wheel but at £1,800 it's a bit out of most peoples price range.

Agreed, I understand the USB key system used by other DD wheels to limit maximum FFB unless the key is plugged in but this decision I don't understand.

The CSL DD uses an improved, automotive-grade, all-aluminium quick release. This component is user-exchangeable, ready for the transition to the all-new QR2 system (coming soon). And of course we are working on more DDs, including PS5 licensed DDs, as well.

would lead me to believe this version is not PS compatible.

Sorry for the late reply, see below.

Depth - 63cm
W - 200cm
H - 70cm (floor to bottom of the desk)

Seat base I made, desk is an oak kitchen top with Ikea legs and Ikea unit

I have built a sim, work in progress still but getting there.

- Track Racer TR160 + Mouse Stand + Keyboard Tray
- Track Racer Monitor Stand (got a single 27 inch screen, waiting for a Reverb G2)
- Simcube 2 Sport
- Cube Control GT Pro OMP Wireless
- Heusinkveld Sprint 3 x Pedals

Good set up, pain in the bum to assemble as some bits missing and had to chase them more than once to replace missing stuff on the Track Racer. OMP wheel a touch temperamental but can usually get within a second or two of top level times and know where I can find more speed.

Around 25 of us race as a group which makes for fun on Discord. Mix of proper racers, sim racers and idiots (hi)

Pedals now sit on their additional raised mounting plate and are much better positioned. They were too high in this picture. This taken during build.
