from the fanatec forums someone else mentioned that the availability dates are for new orders, if you ordered in March when it said 27th April this should be your arrival date to their warehouse, they'll then ship to you.

This would make sense to me otherwise you'd never get a product as the available date would keep slipping. I've been waiting since Feb for my DD CSL 8nm but at least i currently have a G29

Playseat Challenge is a good one. I use it and it holds a Fanatec DD wheel and base perfectly fine. I'm sure you could find a differnt type which is "more solid" as per your suggestion but the Playseat Challenge is absolutely fine.

Fella on Facebook (Si Turnbull) is knocking out alu profile rigs for £200 shipped for his basic design. Just add any real car seat you want from ebay/scrapyard

@SDK^ I've had my order shipped now so fingers crossed yours is being shipped too. now to pay the import fees booo
CSL DD 8n, clubsport v3 pedals, formula 2.5 X and BMW GT2 v2 wheels, clubsport shifter due 3rd May leaving me basically about 17 hours max over the next 5 days to get to grips with its feel and set the FFB etc up before my next F1 2021 league race

Very nice. I had my Formula V2.5X and APM delivered this week and love everything about it. Only used it on GT7 so far but felt that the FFB was too weak on GT7 to use my McLaren GT3 wheel.

Nice setup

I would have gone for the Clubsport F1 wheel but they are too small for me - 270mm vs 300mm, on the McLaren. Also, reviews report the rotary encoders move too easy by your hands and the increased weight dampens FF feel. Let us know how you get on with it.

It’s amazing how far this kit has come though.
In 1996 I bought the first proper home sim wheel and pedals - BRD Sim Pro for PC, for about £270. It had no FF but really transformed driving on GP2.

It's bizarre that fanatec needs a separate booster kit to get 8nm.

I think it should have come as 8nm standard on the csl dd.

It's just a bigger power supply. If you order the 8nm boost with the base, they keep the 5nm power supply which is a bit naughty. Not sure if it's worth buying the base, then the boost kit afterwards on another order number. That way at least you'd have an emergency spare.

Fanatec have done this to generate more profit and interest.
They have the headline for the 5nm 'Direct Drive wheel base for £349' for the adverts, Social media and YouTuber reviews, then tempt people to upgrade to 8nm for another £150.

Yes, I was surprised the standard PSU was missing from the box. Effectively means the Boost Kit upgrade cost more than £150.

Yep - profiteering at it's best.
That's the way things sell now these days - priced at what people will pay, rather than what they are worth. You could argue they are priced too low, given the price the scalpers are selling them for on eBay.

No, it was a smart business decision to create an artificially low price.
