Sim racers - what are you running?

@Muska

Are those the Asus Bezel Free thingys or the Gavin ones on Etsy ? What side screen angle do you run ?

Have the ones from Etsy but couldnt get them to look right. Have reset the angles again on my rig , so might try again.

They are indeed the ASUS bezel free kit. I used an adapter kit to use them with 32" monitors: https://simsportgadget.com/products...flat-monitor-pack-of-4?variant=44048813130032

I got the curved adapters and it gives you a tighter fit, which you need for curved monitors. The guidance that comes with the kit says to ignore the tool that comes with the bezel free kit and aim for the gap at the rear to be between 112-116cm. After lots of fiddling and getting it all setup right this has worked Great. I’ve no idea what the side angle is, but it’s definitely much tighter than it would be with flat monitors. personally I like the wrap around effect of curved monitors.
hope that helps!

Mounting various shifters on Playseat Challenge.

I have a Fanatec shifter clamped to a table next to my playseat. it's nice and solid. Happy with it.
I wondered though about mounting the shifter directly on the playseat frame. I fancied trying it. So I googled and googled and googled again.
Thought I'd share my findings.

One popular solution is to buy a kit from Lowdown Shifters. Found a youtube video of this chap using the kit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elGWGdU8jZc

It comes in about £35 inc shipping + import taxes. Seemed like a decent enough solution but £35+ when I didn't really need to mount in on the playseat? Just fancied trying it to see how it would work out (I was bored:). nah. Not overly expensive but still nah.

So I did me a bit more googling and found this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09J2KNQX3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

A light bar mounting kit from the rainforest for £15.99. To my eyes, these are just the same thing that Lowdon shifters is using minus the odd washer and screw.

So I bought it. Tried it and it works. Not as stable mounted on the playseat as opposed to the table clamp I prefer to use but it's a nice cheap solution for anyone who is willing to tinker and improvise.

Anyways I thought one or two folks might find this info useful.

Personally I've reverted to the table and clamp but this was a bit of fun for £16 and gave me a couple of hours mindlessly tinkering with my little setup. :).

A little DIY button box project I completed back in the summer.

Just saw a snippet on a Karl Gosling youtube video he's just posted. I don't want one but apparantly Fanatec DD2 wheelbases are half price in their black Friday sale right now. Circa £800. Not interested myself. Too much for my pocket and besides I wouldn't appreciate such a high end wheelbase. Just thought I'd give you guys and gals a heads up.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HPReverb/comments/17y5njr/simracing_reverb_g2_vs_quest_3_review/ Posted my simracing G2 vs Quest 3 impressions here for those interested. I really want an excuse to upgrade my G2 but yeah..

I've recently picked iRacing back up, building a diy rig for my t300, with the intention being able to give the HP Reverb G2 a proper go.

Just, wow.

I've only got a 6700XT so settings are low, but honestly, I'll never play a driving game/sim on a flat screen again.

It's amazing.

Has anyone used a CAMMUS C5?
Just bought the cheapest bundle available on their website and used a generic 5% discount code from a random youtuber :) I was going to go all out on one a few months ago, but this is more to see if I'll even enjoy the experience as much as I thought I would.

Seems to tick enough boxes for the asking price I ended up paying about £310 including shipping for the C5+CP5 Pedals and a clamp for the desk.

let us know what its like, fingers crossed its good
Got it earlier today, and had a quick go in a few games (as a total racing sim noob) it's definitely not a pick up and play device, with every game seemingly requiring calibration, and tweaking (luckily, there are profiles on the cammus software dedicated to each game) then you just tweak the rest to your own preferences. But this has been the most annoying part of my experience today.

There are probably better devices that are plug and play or at least plug and tweak I gather. Especially with the likes of Assetto Corsa/Competizione or rfactor 2?

I tried out all the above only for a few min just to see how the wheel felt, clearly I'll need to take a lot of time getting used to things better.

Even though it's only 5nm (at least, from what you'd read online that doesn't seem like a lot) but from someone with basically only two previous experiences with a force feedback wheel ever, it definitely has enough weight and resistance to it, especially as I have it clamped to my desk...

at least I now know why people end up with dedicated rigs for these wheels :)

Currently downloading F1 2023 and WRC as well, but the main game I was playing today was Kartkraft.

Not spoken much about actul racing recently. I'm on a horrific streak. From a high of 2.1k iRating this 100 loss yesterday dropped me to 1250.

Starting 7th, some moron just decides to sit on the grid.

I've been on iracing (on and off) since 2009. I've never protested...untill now. Not this actual incident but everytime i'm punted or taken out....i'm protesting.

My Irating is increasing again. quite quickly actually, but I have picked it up again at around 1200-1300, gaining around 50ish per race. My SR on the other hand keeps getting knocked. Mostly racing GT4's and the Ringmeister series, but dabble in the odd GT3 sprint. It feels like despite all attempts to avoid incidents, all my efforts are in vain. Last race was the GT86 on the ring, spent over an hour practicing to get vaguely competitive in whats admittedly quite a fun car on the edge, its a car I mistakenly hadnt bothered with before. Start of the race mid pack decent start, with a lot of traffic people still 2 wide and reasonably slow and bunched up (possible contact near the front?). Someone thought it was a good idea to get too spicey with cold tyres, didnt read the slowing traffic and smashed me in the rear punting me off into the barrier with a 9 minute recovery and over minute and half of repairs, just decided it wasnt worth the wait and sacked it. Its just so frustrating some times, especially when it feels like its completely out of your hands.
