Sim racers - what are you running?

I'm trying to race in a mixture of series. I goto upto 2.1k doing to Production Car Challenge in the GT86.

I'm driving the Porsche Cup (evil car but great fun) the mx5 and the gt4 Caymen. Just whatever is the next race when I sit down to have a play.

It's a great series that.

I've been chasing 4k for about a year, been between 3600 and 4000 for to long. One stupid incident from someone is all it takes to scrub off 120pts, it's a killer.

Not spoken much about actul racing recently. I'm on a horrific streak. From a high of 2.1k iRating this 100 loss yesterday dropped me to 1250.

Starting 7th, some moron just decides to sit on the grid.

I've been on iracing (on and off) since 2009. I've never protested...untill now. Not this actual incident but everytime i'm punted or taken out....i'm protesting.

I've had a rough couple of weeks also. I've went from 2.6k to 2.1k and now (as of my last race) I'm back up to 2.3k. My SR absolutely hit the gutter (0.5 A class) during IMSA's week at Daytona. In either GTP or GT3 I just could do no right. I'd get to the 4th quarter of the race and the incident points would just shoot up.

The VRS GT3 championship is at the 'Ring this week so ideal opportunity to farm SR. I'm back up to 3.66 (In A class) now after 2 x 40 minute races. It's weird that some weeks you can do now wrong. The podiums and even wins come with relative ease. Then other its a disaster.

Thinking of buying a Fanatec system... from Fanatec. The price on the website comes to 770 Euros.. which is £660. Does VAT get added on after this price and what are the customs fees like ?

I've seen the same setup on ebay second hand and I'm wondering if it makes more sense to buy that, but if anything goes wrong will I still be able to claim an RMA under warranty? Can you pass the warranty on?

Honestly if you can find the same setup used in the UK I'd be a lot more inclined to go down that route. Not sure I'd want to be playing Russian roulette with Fanatec CS at the moment. Seeing a lot of unhappy people at the moment having issues with long lead times, delayed/problematic dispatch and delivery issues. Its something that has plagued Fanatec forever, however its exacerbated by Black Friday sales/Christmas purchases at this time of year.
Fanatec warranty to my knowledge is not transferable, so you would be reliant on the original buyer to assist you if they were willing.

Personal update on the Cammus C5, not compatible out of the box with latest WRC Game, Forza Horizon 5 or Motorsport... looks like I need to install some emulation software to get it detected, but the one recommended won't install, so will have to look out for more information later on.

It works out of the box with F1 23, Assetto Corsa, rFactor 2, KartKraft so at least the main games I wanted to use it with are covered.

I guess this is why people go with more popular brands to avoid any issues like above :)

Does anyone know any good wheel emulation software for undetected wheels?

If it's stating 'including tax', that will be the German VAT (19% ?) that will be removed from the order/payment. You then need to pay the UK VAT (20%) plus some clearance fee (something like £15) to UPS either online or at the door on delivery.

I ordered a full Fanatec setup on the 24th, and it's now on 'label created'. Slightly worried it won't make it since I noticed the Paypal receipt isn't showing the second line of my address for some reason...

I think the biggest problem people have is the lack of communication. Apparently the "completely shipped" on the order status just means it's been sent to the warehouse. It does sound like some of the earlier delivery problems were sorted, but now it's the Black Friday volume.

I've finally settled on my new Pedals. Was toying with the Simagic P2000 but decided on the Meca Cup Evo Hydraulic pedals due to availability, the only current stockist of the P2000 in the UK refuses to deliver to my address for some reason. I was on the fence between the 2, I prefer the styling and design of the Meca though I kinda wanted the option for the future upgrade to Haptics with the P2000. However, I lost patience trying to order the Simagics so went with the Meca. Just went with the 2 pedal set for now but will likely grab the Clutch at a later date. Kinda annoying that their Pedal base and long throttle pedal plate is out of stock till early next year though, will have to suffice with bolting direct to profile and fabricate some sort of heel plate. Was hoping to get them today but looks like Parcelfarce are holding the package for a Weekday delivery... :(

Just a heads up if anyone is after a cheap deal on lightly used Loadcell pedal set in time for Christmas. My Moza SRP 3 pedal set will be going up on the Members market early next week.

The price you see is what you will pay + shipping about £40 when you checkout the price you pay at that time will be cheaper because it will have VAT 20% deducted. Then later when your items are ready to ship you have to pay VAT 20% to UPS their courier or at least that's my understanding.

I've pre ordered the clubsport dd+ with pedals and a wheel which came to €1394,22 Inc shipping but I still have another 20% pay before delivery, lord knows whenever that will be their service seems to be an utter **** show atm and they are still taking orders left right and centre before solving the issues they already have. If you don't need PlayStation support or Xbox support as well as Pc maybe look elsewhere

Thanks for the replies. I've found what I want on ebay but as I say it's second hand. It was purchased in 2021 so has no warranty anyway. I'm just a bit weary of spending several hundred on second hand gear. There seems to be an awful lot of RMAs of Fanatec gear.

If I did buy it and tried it before buying, what issues should I be looking for, and if something went wrong with it how can you get the wheelbases repaired?

You aren't limited to Simagic pedals if you want to use their haptics.
If you (or anyone else) want a mounting solution, give me a shout when you get your pedals.

You also have the option of not using their controller box and PSU. They can also work with an amp like any other bass shaker using a little adaptor.

Here they are on mine and a mate's pedals.
Only one because they accidentally didn't send the second...

Oooh, I’d be interested to hear your experiences. I’ll be having a Buttkicker pro if they ever come into stock in the UK & I imagine this would compliment it nicely for braking feedback.

Yeah, these or any other pedal tactile should ideally be complemented by some good bum rumbles. That Buttkicker will be great :)

I've used these, Dayton exciters and Dayton TT-25 on the pedals in the past.
The Simagic haptics are pretty much on par with the TT-25's with most stuff, but can do stronger ABS if that's what you want.

Honestly though, I've never liked the feeling of ABS haptic feedback. I find it more distracting and irritating than useful - but I don't play iRacing where I gather it's almost a requirement.

I use them for front wheel slip and road bump/vibration feedback mostly, which is far better than a shaker under your pedal plate for that stuff in my experience.
Most people seem to think that these things are just for ABS or TC, but they can do so much more.

That's interesting, I hadn't even considered using for something other than ABS or other braking feedback. More research required!
