SimCity V (2013) - screens/artwork and information

Well it was always going to go down this route, also expect copious amounts of in game purchases.

This is EA after all.

Yep, I was really hoping they would stick with the old style of Sim city which made the game so popular in the first place. Currently this reminds me of Cities XL which in my opinion was a terrible game.

I hope some indie developers can come along and recreate the style of game the old ones had.

EA ruin everything, they turn even the best games into cash cows, they don't give a stuff about the consumer, it'll all about keeping the shareholders happy.

Anyone else hear that ? That was the sound of the Sim City franchise crashing and burning :( Now all they have left to do is introduce a real money element to bury it for good.

:(

That is all. Online collaboration might be good (e.g. Simtrop city journals), but this social thing takes it too far.

EDIT: The economy seems interesting, but I'm sure someone will find a way to **** it up. :p

Seems a real shame really, cos theres a lot of things i really like about where they've gone with it, but theres also a lot of things they've taken away which people expect having been there from the beginning.

Thankfully i preordered mine while making a 10sec round-trip to India and just happened to get it for 1/4 of the price ;) and while it'll still be disappointing, hopefully it wont be a complete waste of time & money.

wilber - from what i can understand, your 'world' will either be private, shared private (approved friends) and possibly public. but you'll still be able to play the game privately and aside from their DRM measures i dont see why you wouldnt be able to place in isolation if you wanted to, although mods may be different. Perhaps enabling mods will disable your interactivity with the community leaderboards, so you could exploit things if you so wished, but only in your world and you couldnt interact with others to sell it or top the leaderboard. Think its safe to say thats too obvious, and you'll be closer, but fingers crossed.

What concerns me is these limited global resources, are they regenerative, or is there say 1m units of coal & oil etc and then what? sure some thing could be replaced by renewable energy, but something tells me thats not realy the answer.

They also seem to have an extra page on the US version of the site: http://www.simcity.com/en_US/game/info/simcity-world

http://eaassets-a.akamaihd.net/www....4299481/sites/default/files/GlobalMarkets.jpg (its a biiiig pic, 6k x 3k res)
dirty energy can be replaced with renewable energy, but how do you replace electronics? is that going to be something thats a limited resource, or is it just things like oil & coal, and you can buy them from other people if you wish, or use alternative power to solve the problem.

If your just buying from the marketplace because you have a demand for it then thats fine, but doing so because you've ran out and theres no alternative, then thats just game destroying, and people will just create new cities to pillage it of resources then regenerate it i'd imagine.

Im still quite excited about it, i've played them all, and while this one seems to be a bit smarter in how its done, and yet dumber in how the user is treated and seems overly simplified and user friendly (aka dumbed down), it still excites me, i just hope the core gameplay isnt dumbed down, its just made user friendly... but trusting EA is a tough job, and im not really one to get down on them and blame them for everything thats wrong with gaming like many.

I lost interest the minute i saw all the Online interaction big Bull crap EA nonsense.

I play sim city 4 to waste 8h of my life, then blow it up or let Godzilla looooose on it.

I dont play it for high score tables dominated by no lifers, i dont care about how Franz is exploiting bugs, free market economics or loopholes. I certainly dont want to play with a load of Korean or Japanese schoolgirls...

God i bought it again on the steam sale and haven't even installed it from 6 + months ago...

yes this one will be a dumber version still and im not paying for what looks like a facebook game now.

Its a step too far styleised for me, all these DOF fuzzy graphics and happy spinny building tools... why?

yours faithfully

Paul, even when playing solo your game has an effect on the global economy it says so in the new trailer. Also check the game forums people are screaming bloody murder :(

Yea it also says so in a Sticky post by a mod on the official forums.
Even if you play alone, it will be affected by the economy :(

I really like to build cities in SC4 and how they got affected by their neighbouring cities when it came to transport, people travelling over to work and so on. But to have other peoples cities come over to work, just no.

I wonder, will we be able to build multiple cities, or just one? Sorry if I have missed this question being answered before.

I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this...

To be honest, if it's only sold on the Origin store, at the moment, I'd be happy to boycott it...

but what difference would it make if it affected the global economy?
If there was no global economy, you couldnt buy/sell from it, if there is one, dont buy/sell from it and it cant interact with your game, surely?

Maybe im missing something? Im not seeing the significance of the interaction.
If you lived on a desert island with 20 people, entirely self sufficient, the financial crisis has no impact on you, it only impacts the people whos lives rely upon them at a foundation level, and things fall apart.
If your city was that island, and you dont wish to acknowledge this social market nonsense, is there something it'll impact on that'll be interacting with your game? im just thinking in terms of extortionate buying prices, so ruining the game, but if your ideal simcity didnt have a global market, you'd be unable to buy supplies, only mine/create them, but maybe theres other implications it'll have and im being short sighted?

Its a genuine question, i cant see it but i honest cant say i know the nitty-gritty of the features too far beyond the highlights they've told us about and covered them in their EA fairy dust to hide any blemishes they know exist but opt to pretend dont exist.

Welcome to EA's vision of the future :D

If you go back a page or so, someone pointed out that the EA India store has it for around £12/18 for the £45/65 editions!
I managed to do it via a VPN, logging into my EA account, adding it to cart, going through the payment process then disconnecting from the VPN and THEN entering the credit card details, and finally changing my password.

An alternative would be to use a proxy and a virtual visa like entropay w/ £18 on there (would cost about £19.50 total), and then it doesnt really matter if your card details are logged because you've emptied it with that £17 purchase. Just keep in mind you've no guarantee of how secure the info passed through is, so dont enter something you cant change and protect yourself from it if is logged.

pre-order email (payment taken straight away too)
1 SimCity™ Digital Deluxe Edition ₹1,499.00
So thats £16.91 at todays rate, and im pretty sure i paid £17 too, and thats for the £65 bells & whistles version.

Im not sure its still that price now mind you, they cottoned onto the BF3 Premium price and put it near enough the same as GBP, so they may well have done the same here.
