Simmers rejoice! DCS: Black Shark, Russian release date

The Download version of Lock On:Flamming Cliffs and BS use a type of copy protection that has nothing to do with CD or DVD Drives, I fail to see what the fuss is about?

Nate

I was forced to buy FC on DVD after having activated my legally purchased and downloaded version more than 5 times (3 reinstalls whilst moving over to Vista from XP, and a new machine). I won't be downloading anything like that again, I'd rather take my chances with Starforce (and I've just had to reinstall Vista after it borked my last install!!)

Did you ask Eagle Dynamics for more activations? I've been given more, after a similar situation to yourself. Their policy is usually to provide more activations in these situations.

I didnt actually - I wasn't aware that they offered more activations. However, that said it would only be a matter of time before I used them too and I wouldnt want the worry/hassle in the future.

Yes but my point was that why would anybody bother cracking Lockon1.1 when Flaming Cliffs is out and cracked, the only reason 1.1 was never cracked at the time is probably due to it being a niche product and the fact that 1.0 was out and cracked.

As for slowing down pirating, I don't believe it does, especially in regards to a product such as this which is going to be mainly used by computer literate users who will in the main have the ability to use a cracked version, now that may be a big generalisation but it's no worse than yours:
Top tip: 1.1 is Flaming Cliffs.

I was against SF protection at first, with all the hype surrounding the idea that it borks your pc. However, I got the download of flaming cliffs and it has been running perfectly ever since on vistax64. Don't see what all the fuss is about tbh.

Without derailing the original topic (I can't wait for this game either) we are back to the same old argument - the only people that copy protection affects are legitimate users - pirates circumvent it within minutes (and sometimes before) of release, and those that choose to download illegal copies have a smooth, hassle free experience. Those of us that choose to buy it often get shafted by the system designed to protect us from "pirates and the effect they have on future releases" *cough* horlicks *cough* Mass Effect was a prime example - I bought it to play while I was away, and having waited a month, I finally gave it a go, and it wouldn't work - correctly patched/activated, but it would not play ball - had I simply pirated it a month earlier however...

Write a good enough game and you will succeed without the need for corrosive copy protection!

Schweeeet, some good news at last. Been lookin forward to this. The simming world needs stuff like this more. Sounds like this is gonna be quite the learning curve but looking forward to that. Egg-beaters are not easy to fly in real life either so it makes sense. Time to get a cheap joystick and mod it to make a collective

I wonder if they have modeled the Zvezda K-37 ejection seat for the KA-50. I still think its trippy to have such an escape mechanism on a helo! For those of you wondering - the two sets of main rotors are punched off and the seat kicks u out seconds later. Must be cool to watch!

Gunships. Bring it

I think when SF was first introduced to 1.1 it was at the strict request of 1C.

Not suprised it hasn't changed, doesn't bother me either way, I've had 1.1 since the day it came out and none of my software/hardware has done a suicide on me.

Of course the people that have had issues with SF will be more vocal than those that have had no problems, thats the nature of anything not just copy protection, No one posts to say SF is working perfectly.

Huzzar! Been eagerly waiting for this ever since it was announced all those years ago. And to think, the PMDG MD-11's almost there as well. :D

Childish I know, but the first thing I'll be doing in that game is hovering under a bridge and and pulling that ejection handle, just to see what happens.

Although I do fear my current rig's not going to be up to the standard required to play Black Shark.

With the above I think you will do just fine.

Oh neat! Looks like they went all out on this one. Is the KA-50 the only flyable helo? I hope they have its brother-in-arms the Mi-28 which I kinda like better, it looks the business too. Big. Ugly. And with this monster gun hanging underneath!

There is now way in hell my PC will run this - I cant run Lock On even. But in the process of looking for another rig, made the decision to go for a quadcore CPU and 4870 card as starters.

Well its the first of the DCS series, not sure if the hind is in but I know for sure the A-10 is coming after this, and also down the line they are hoping to release the apache where you can have two players per helo, one pilot one gunner.

The only flyable vehicle in this release, DCS: Black shark, is the Ka-50 aka Black Shark.
