You seem to be expressing an inordinate amount of glee in this situation Dano. I find it hard to understand why?
Facts are that the publishing rights for Russia belong to one company (1C) and the publishing rights internationally belong to another (TFC). Legally as with almost every other piece of software on the planet you cannot publish to a market you don't own the rights to.
Seeing that 1C commissioned the Sim in the first place, and that they had a deadline set, The devs put their effort in to meeting that deadline, they did, and now are completing the English, German French and Spanish localisations. Unfortunately these localisations have to be finished before submitted to the Ratings agencies for each country the game is being marketed in before being sold. That takes time. These guys don't have the resources of a larger publishing company like UBI anymore.
The situation is less than ideal, I for one am frustrated for having to wait longer than the Russians. But Knowing why this is the case, I accept it, and fly something else in the mean time.
Nate
Hehe, what an absolute disaster of a release, they've now stated that the Russian version will not be available to Westerners, so you all have a nice three month minimum wait now, unless you're comfortable wearing an eye patch.
I can see so many potential buyers downloading this illegally now, all with the intention of buying it upon release, how many will simply be bored of it by then and just not bother?
I really do find it hard to believe that a company could make such a mess of a release, maybe it's time somebody started selling themselves as software release consultants because the industry as a whole blatantly hasn't got a scoobies.
How many westerners do you know that can translate a helicopters flight manual/controls in Russian.
Ive seen some of the comments left by downloadees and theyre all shouting for an english version cos they can't understand it so aren't downloading.
A translated manual is available on ED's forums.
