Upgraded the firmware, tbh not really sure what difference it has made?

How do I turn of the "you have a text message from ............" notification?

I just did this and it was as simple as jailbreaking my iPhone - over and done with in a couple of minutes. Thanks Need to observe things for a while just incase I have any issues.

If i flash the S3 I have running South Africa ROM to the UK unlocked one, will it fresh install over or do I need to wipe off the south african rom first?

The phone is not rooted at all yet
