Singapore Grand Prix 2010, Marina Bay Street Circuit - Race 15/19

As opening practice for the 2010 Singapore Grand Prix closes in, so too do the skies. As the Formula BMW field left the circuit shortly after 16:00 local time the skies opened, dousing the track and forcing the Porsche Carrera Cup cars into a last minute tyre change in the F1 pitlane.

Standing water and rivers across the road were an early feature of the Carrera Cup session, with large pools on many of the apexes around the back of the circuit causing cars to aquaplane.
Although the rain has stopped it seems unlikely the circuit will dry entirely before Formula One hits the tracks at 18:00 local time. While the light has not yet faded, the clouded skies have darkened the already dampened mood.

Contrary to common belief, spray does not, at this stage, appear to be a concern, however that may change as natural light diminishes and we move into the evening.

I work from home every other Friday so was all ready for practice only to realise it's 2 hours later! Never mind will start get to see it albeit that little bit later on!

The weather sure does look like it could have a big impact on this race and will hopefully spice things up a little. The top of the championship is very tight now so drivers will have to tread carefully to avoid a DNF!

Roll on qualy and the race!

Team principal Colin Kolles said: "It looks as if Sakon Yamamoto has food poisoning, and he doesn't feel well.

"Because of this, Christian Klien will be driving the car this Friday and the rest of the Singapore Grand Prix."

Kolles added that he hoped Yamamoto would be "able to drive at his home Grand Prix in Japan", which is the next race in two weeks' time.
lol bet he ran out of monies :D

Why didn't they design the track with this in mind, is it really that difficult to put some camber in the corners to allow the water to drain?

Klien is the better driver, not enough time for Chandhok to get his pennies together i suspect

Weird Chandhok wasn't picked?
Klien's also under contract with them, and they did claim they were going to rotate the drives between them all. Still, Senna's only missed one race so far hasn't he? Feels harsh on Chandhok.

Didn't realise Klien was only 27, feels like he's been around for ages.He was supposedly quite rated when he first made the step up, and didn't do particularly badly, just not enough to catch anyone's eye I guess. Sort of partially responsible for bringing Red Bull into F1 too.

just listening to christen horner on the red button talking about its to early to have vettel help Webber,
yeah right, if it was vettel leading they would have already asked Webber to help

Anyone know why the McLarens and Red Bulls have done only a few laps?

there saving tyres
i think they should be made to go out, people there have payed money to watch practise
