Singapore Grand Prix 2010, Marina Bay Street Circuit - Race 15/19

BBC Sport's Sarah Holt in Singapore: "The McLaren drivers sat tight until the very closing stages of first practice. The team have what they are describing as a 'big upgrade' in Singapore and are confident about their potential. Lewis Hamilton says: 'I think we are back on the pace and others have also backed up.' Does he reckon McLaren will get blown away by Red and Ferrari on Singapore's high-downforce circuit? 'I'm not expecting it,' he says. 'It's known that when they put more downforce on they go quicker but they were gaining a huge amount from two particular parts of the front wing and the floor. They were potentially illegal so the rules were changed and I think they will have lost the advantage that they had.'"

Interesting. Certainly can't wait for quali!

Webber leads damp Singapore practice
Championship leader Mark Webber was fastest in first practice at Singapore.
The session started on a wet track and the championship contenders avoided the first hour of running as the track dried out.

Iplayer - The Singapore Grand Prix - Practice One
Live coverage of the first practice session from the Singapore Grand Prix. The McLaren team will be trying to edge closer to Red Bull-Renault.

Maybe they decided that it's not really difficult to think of a setup as it is maximum downforce anyway?
Practice is more than just aero though. I just find it odd that they wouldn't have wanted to see which areas of the track were drying out quicker, say, rather than all waiting for it to be mostly dry.
