webber to drop to around 8/9.

Funny, in the Pre-season thread you were saying quite the opposite.

First off, I have not changed my tune about Webber. I have always said he is an average driver. Read: 'average' is not 'bad'. My opinion has not changed of him this year, compared to last year. He is decent/average...but not great or bad.

I also stated in pre-season that Vettel wasn't "that" good. This is correct.
The basis of this was that Webber, who is an average driver (not bad), was able to almost beat him, on merit. I'm now repeating myself (see).

However, now that Vettel has improved (and I think I stated this in this very thread, about Vettel improving...again, I am now repeating myself), he has moved ahead of Webber and is now making him look very ordinary.

I'm now going to repeat myself for you Kenai, just so that you can try and catch me out: Vettel has moved forward. He wasn't that great last year, but won the title in a car which was far ahead of the rest. The fact that he barely beat Webber, who is an average/decent driver tells us this. This year however, Vettel has shown that he has now moved forward. He is consistent. He is a polemeister. With the exception of brutal overtakes, he is as good as anybody. Only Alonso, IMO is currently better than him.

Keep trying Kenai...I dare you.

He's hardly ever behind a slow driver(/car?) so its rare he shows his overtaking moves.

Indeed. And when he got the chance overtake arguably the best driver in F1, in the last race...he did a great overtake.

Hell, Brundle, Jordan, DC - without exception they were all impressed with that overtake.

Yet the OCUK brigade are not. I'm stunned.

He's at the front, less pressure, less outside influence, less mistakes.

Oh, you mean like when Hamilton was under tremendous pressure at Spa and ended up crashing into Kobayashi? The point is that Vettel makes very very few errors, while going tremendously quickly.

Obviously, he isn't going to drive as quickly as Button in the wet (and this caused the error at Canada), but then not many in F1 can.

True. But is that down to Vettel or the car (or both, of course)? I'd love to see one of the other 'top' drivers in Vettels car and see what the deal is.

A good qualifying car isn't going to help a driver get a good start. Vettel is arguably one of the best starters on the grid. Very seldom does anybody get the better of him off the grid (except for Alonso a couple of times).

In saying that, you can't blame Vettel for consistently getting the best out of his car in qualifying.

one overtake when he has a much superior car doesn't a great driver make...
however, i do concede that the RB + Vettel combo is probably the best in f1 right now

Please quote the post that said I'm not impressed... I'm impressed with every single driver on the grid no matter what they do, they are all doing far far better than i could ever hope to do. I am merely having an opinion that Vettel, when compared to the other drives, is nothing special just from a couple of overtakes.

That's just agreed with my point. Vettel can go so fast (possibly) because he isn't under as much pressure when he's out infront compared to people who are fighting for position.

Obviously, he isn't going to drive as quickly as Button in the wet (and this caused the error at Canada), but then not many in F1 can.

Very true and again i agree with you on this. But would it be the same for other drivers if they had the chance to qualify in such a fast car? Very possibly but we have no way of knowing.

What's wrong with it being anti clockwise? :s

More strain on the "weaker" park of the neck, so harder on the driver.

Anyone found that fan's red bull floor video, they mentioned in the qually build up? I may send Ron Dennis the link :D
