Singapore Grand Prix 2015, Marina Bay - Race 13/19

Definitely one of my new favourite tracks.

With the top 6 drivers from practice within half a second of each other I think it's going to make for an interesting race but as joker said above, Mercedes and especially Hamilton will pull something out of the bag for his qualifying and race times.

My money is on Hamilton and I do hope he matches the record set by Senna.

By the looks of whats come out of todays meetings, the teams have agreed to allow 1 year old engines to be used at 2/3rd the cost of current engines.

But Red Bull have said they will only stay in the sport if they have a competitive engine. A 1 year old version of the second best engine is not a competitive engine, so we could well see toys exiting prams and them leaving.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that the way forward is for engine providers to not also be allowed to own teams. It create such a conflict of interest that its killing the sport.

How can you have F1 without a Ferrari owned Ferrari team?
It wouldn't be the same.

I can't believe this is a SKY race also.
Did BBC decide to pick the British GP, and then let SKY basically pick all the interesting races instead?
It seems months between BBC races now, I know it isn't and there was a large summer block, but it just makes the sport seem even more distant.

As above, I will believe it when I see a VW/Audi/Bentley/Lamborghini team on the grid at a race.

I did think about the Haas link posted earlier. Could they be looking at Rossi for their team as I'm sure they will want an American driver.

Where the hell did Ferrari get that pace from! not looking good for Merc.

Hamilton's car is getting to hot. His 1.2 seconds down :(

One thing is that with the two engines they've run before this new one they've known as a fact they are bullet proof. The start of the season engine ran literally thousands of laps in preseason testing, that was a 100% certain rock solid engine, run it hard all day, in practice, in quali, all good. The Canada engine almost certainly got used in the first in season test before being introduced, got tested on 7 cars initially(Hulk still on the old one), and then in the second in season test.

This engine, it's had no on track testing at all and I believe had a significantly bigger engine change than the Canada one. So I can see them being way more careful with these engines for a few races before they feel more comfortable it will finish races.

I also think they may well be going for a faster time on the second lap as night time, lower track temps, that might have been a very safe first lap to warm them but not take life out and they could go another 2 seconds faster on a full out lap. Wouldn't read too much into the times yet, unless they do that in Q3. If they were this slow in qualifying I would genuinely think they've seen issues with Hamilton's engine after Monza and they aren't at all happy about it so have dialled the power down massively.

Boom! Game on Merc, Vettel and Ferrari look absolutely rapid. Red Bull no slouches either!
