Singapore Grand Prix 2015, Marina Bay - Race 13/19

It is surprising, everyone thought Mercedes would be on pole, and a 1-2 at that, no one predicted they'd be 5th and 6th. Anyone who says they aren't surprised at that after the season so far is a fool.

Bring it on, as JB said it's great for the Sport and exactly what it needs, the neutrals are probably fed up with the dominance, they like to see it mixed and spiced up, unpredictability is what people like.

To be honest, the fans get sick of anyone dominating the sport. We never had this amount of dominance in the 4 years we won the title. It is nice to see one race where it gets mixed up a bit.

Watching the side by side shot of both Seb and Lewis, you'll see why the Ferrari does well here. The Merc is all over the place over the kerbs.

RBR/Vettel only dominated for about 1.5 of the 5 seasons they were in with a shout of wining the title. And they never had more than about a .5 second advantage even when they were absolutely out front.

Remember Bahrain last year when Mercedes were forced to show their hand? Weren't they about 2.5 seconds ahead? RBR can only dream of that sort of advantage.

2 out of Sebs 4 titles went to the final race against drivers from other teams. Yes last year went to the last round, but only between Mercedes themselves.

This, RBR never had this much dominance over the rest of the field. In fact at Monza last time out you had to go back to 1998 for the last time a car pulled out a 20+ second advantage at from P2.

People are so keen to forget this when having "Seb had it so easy!" rants. 2010 is a great example. Seb only lead the Championship once over the whole year, and that was after Abu Dhabi at the very end. For the entire season he was being beaten by a number of other people.

Those were the days when Mclaren could actually win races.

Vettel was pretty dominant in 2011 and 2013 though.

Really? Never! They wouldn't do such a thing! Not after all the moaning.

Isn't this the first non power race where merc had to change that link thingy, when they decided the past season and half was beyond the rules?
hardly matters, makes it much more fun, and red bull always did have good aero, I think they wanted to show what they might have been able to achieve if not linked with the awful Renault power recovery system.

Last year Mercedes were only a couple of tenths faster than the opposition, so it's not that much of a surprise that they were beaten to pole this year.

The gap is a combination of factors. They couldn't get the tyres to peak and, as said, they didn't look as comfortable over the kerbs. On a circuit like this, with so many corners and kerbs over the chicanes being so critical, it's not a surprise that they are so far back.

It'll be interesting to see if they look stronger with a car fat with fuel as that ought to help in both areas that they're apparently struggling with.

Still, it's one race and an almost unique one at that. They were slower than Ferrari when we were a couple of hundred miles up the road too.

Some(silly)people wanted these engines but they're the one's moaning about it.
Renault was stupid in that they wanted and pushed for these engines. The stupid part was that Brawn was on the board so Merc had a head start.

Hoping for a clean start and a good race. I think the Mercs will be lucky to get in the top 5 here.
