Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is the ultimate Sins experience that certainly adds value on top of Sins Diplomacy or the Sins Trinity bundle. The best Rebellion feature is undoubtedly the introduction of the colossal-sized Titan ships. You crave them, you anxiously anticipate their completion and finally you contemplate them and really care about them. These are gorgeous, awe-inspiring and immensely fun to play spaceships. Capital ships were already a big fun factor in the original Sins games, now Titans are another big plus for the series. Sins’ gameplay will definitively not be the same with the introduction of these huge ships that’s for sure.

This game is so awesome if you haven't played the previous or only sins of a solar, get this game as it has all the previous ones in it as well :D

I was nearly wiped out but by chance I just finished the titan class ship and pushed the battle back in my favour. Retreated for a quick repair and then took over two planets and homeworld. :D

3.14am and my neck is killing me lol

There's a Babylon 5 mod, I noticed on the official forums. Whether they've finished it or not I didn't get to find out as I had to go out.

I'm not used to this game at all, and am finding it VERY difficult. Not quite sure how to build a stable base for expansion, without being forced to rush out and claim several planets immediately, to expand research. It seems that no matter what I do (so I'm probably doing it wrong), I can never get enough fleet cap, or general cap to make sure my defences are strong. I'll upgrade my ships armour and weapons, and will be able to ward off the enemy, but with each wave they send more ships! How, when I'm expanding and researching, I can't do that, so how are they?

This is on easy too! I suck :(

ElDude, there's something about Sins that makes it more difficult to begin with than most other similar games. I lost my first three or four games to an easy AI. Here are a few tips:

Remember that your first capital ship is free. Build the one that can also colonise planets; it'll save a bit on resources in the early game. Send it on its own to planets that have, say, five or fewer defenders. Don't let it colonise the planet until the siege ships have been taken out.

People may disagree, but in my opinion the weapon/shield/armour upgrades are less important in the early game. Concentrate on maximising your resource output (non-combat tech tree), build up your fleet caps, and build up your fleets. Swarms of frigates are very powerful in the early game.

When you really start to expand, start climbing the tech tree that gives you your starbases and hangars. Personally I find that a full load of hangar defenses are the best way to protect a planet in early-middle game. Starbases cost a lot but, when upgraded at least a few times, are absolutely superb at defending worlds.

Play a 2v2 with locked teams - you and an AI against two other AIs, all of the same difficulty level. This will create a bigger, longer game while giving you breathing room.

Use the black market! If you gain a resource edge, you can then use the market to make a good deal of cash too.

I could post more but that should get you started. Good luck!

Ta for that. I think I've messed up by not investing in the fleet tab as I assumed that was just for capital ships, while it may be the case that it raises the cap. I'll have another go in a bit :D I'm really not sure about the black market as I've no idea how that works. I think I'll go through all the tutorials, as they'll no doubt make more sense now I've had a couple of run throughs.

I'm really not sure about the black market as I've no idea how that works.

It's just a way of buying and selling metal and crystal for cash. Hover your mouse over each part of the black market interface to see what each transaction will cost. Hold shift while you click to buy/sell in higher increments. Just watch out for rapid price changes when you use it a lot.

Ah right, so when you get the warnings about the stock crash of a certain commodity, you can presumably buy more for less, or does that not affect the blackmarket?

SO I have played a few games of this so far .... its ok

BUT it just feels like trinity + a little extra , still fun to play and the titan's going toe to toe is an epic battle

Ah right, so when you get the warnings about the stock crash of a certain commodity, you can presumably buy more for less, or does that not affect the blackmarket?

No, that's exactly right. When you get a message that the market for metal has crashed, for example, look at the market panel - you'll see the price of metal coming way down. That means you'll pay less to buy metal, but you'll also earn less if you're selling it.

If you're doing things properly, you shouldn't be buying off the black market much after the early game anyway (unless you got really unlucky with the resources available on your planets). In middle-late game you use it to sell your surplus resources for cash.

While we're on the subject of cash, building trade outposts in each of your worlds is a fantastic way of making money. When you start running out of space for all this infrastructure, remember that (most) planets can be upgraded so that you can build more.

I completed sins reb on my second play through and at times I felt the AI cheated as it knew exactly when I had warped my entire fleet out at such an early point in the game, when I came in it warped back out again only to warp in as soon as i left. They could also build titans and crusiers far faster than you as more and more them appeared so quickly from the same damn place. Even after being wiped out :(

There isn't really a huge difference over the previous game and after completing it i unstalled

Fancy getting this. But put off by the price tag. Would not want to pay more than £15 for it as I already have trinity.

Can you guys please tell me, how many people online? Also is the online interface and options better than trinity? As that was very very basic.

By the way. The game in my opinion is fun vs people. No point playing ai. That is well boring. Only played ai a few times when I had the original until I learnt to play. Playing people is where it's at :)

I think it cost me £14-£16 when I pre-ordered beards ago, there was a promotion discount if you owned the the previous games separately or had the Trinity version.

have logged into your account and checked that way ?

I would have get it at that price too but I canceled that pre-order. Now I am fancying playing it, but not at the current price. £10 on steam sales would be nice :)

Currently with discount it is $29.99 which is still to much.

But might go for it if people here are playing online. But does not seem like there is that much interest in this game. Shame really as Sins is a very good game. I think a lot of people get put of by the lack of a campaign. At the price they are charging they should have one really.

So anyone checked how many people online?

http://www.stardock.com/about/newsitem.asp?id=2738
Stardock announces that Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is smashing all the company's previous sales records. They offer some details on this, including some praise for the impact of sales on Steam, clearly putting the rivalry over once having owned the competing Impulse service in the rearview:
  • The company has sold more than 100,000 copies digitally to date of Rebellion
  • The company’s internal projections factored in a large “cannibalization” percentage of its own direct sales through its web site and sales from its former digital distribution platform Impulse (now owned and operated by GameStop.)
    • Sale stats showed that Steam sales did NOT cannibalize those sales
    • Steam sales instead replaced what Stardock has usually seen via sell-in at retail

On god, I can't play this game, I keep getting killed.
I need a massive fleet to attack, but then they or someone else attacks me on the other side of the empire. If I split into two fleets, one attacking and one guarding. I take far to many losses.

Any guides. Got close, but so far haven't won a single game yet.
