Just heard about this, have to say im pretty shocked that hes called it day. But then its not like he hasnt gone out on a high, winning 20 EPL titles isnt a bad thing to have on your CV i suppose.
Heard that Moyes is in pole position to take over so next season its going to be very interesting to see how well Utd do without Fergie at the helm. Bit surprised that Moyes is favourite to take over, would have thought they might have went for someone who has won a few trophies himself. But Moyes has one hell of an act to follow, if he fails then Utd fans will be all over him and if he does well, then they will probably love him. Mind you he has a decent squad that hes taking over from, a few more signings and he will be ok and unlike Everton, he wont be so tied down financially.

Anyhow if it is true, seems so from what SSN are saying then good luck to Fergie in his retirement. One of most successful managers in the EPL of all time and i hope he enjoys his retirement...wouldnt be surprised if Utd do badly for the next few seasons that Fergie makes a return to management:p.

Cant think of many in the top 6 that have done that in recent years... I for one will be sad to see Moyes go, but with money I think he could do great things in Manchester as he did with Everton, I know that he didnt win trophies but for Moyes at Everton I dont think that you should measure his success that way... but at United I would.

You could even throw Tony Hibbert in there. And he's improved players like Baines, Fellaini, and Pienaar significantly, even if he didn't bring them through the academy.

I think the United focus on youth is more on buying young, for instance Jones and Smalling, and then developing them, which Moyes has shown he can do well.

I'm surprised he didn't carry on until basically he was told he couldn't physically do it any more... but then again he is bloody 71. :D

Manchester United will hold a minutes applause for Sir Alex at the the last home game of the season

It will be in the 98th minute

The Man U forums are having a blinder.

"My heart is heavy right now. Work have said I can go home if I want"

"I was just about to have my morning **** but now it just doesn't feel right"

Rooney yes, others I would say aren't particularly good at all apart from Osman but isn't he well over 30?
