Leaving behind a staggering managerial record, I hope he enjoys his retirement this time. Well deserved.

There can't have been many bigger boots for someone to fill.

Moyes? Are you an ABU?

fergie has done the club proud but clearly struggling to motivate these players and spot a decent talent. He wanted one more champs league but we weren't going to win it again with him or this squad and I think he knew that.

Oh yeah quite clearly you know just won the title and all...

Please, remove yourself from the forums. It's embarrassing and I genuinely have no idea how you can call yourself a supporter of the club.

Moyes does seem to be an overwhelming favourite amongst journalists.

I'm not sure he's what we need, and I mean no disrespect to him or Everton by that.

:/

Surely Mourinho is going to put everything he has into getting this job now.

This legit? Great stuff!! He's up there with the best no doubt about that.

But I disagree with Purdy, I think Man U are ****** without him.

Perhaps league wise, but I reckon just the name Manchester United will make teams crumble as it did under Ferguson he has been that damn good in the league.

surely utd can only go down hill from here.

Not really, they could do well in Europe depending on who they get

There's really no reason to suggest that, while we've been in the fortunate position to have had one of the best for as long as we have Real, Barca, Bayern and others have all enjoyed continued success all the while constantly changing their manager. It's hard to comprehend this right now but the club is bigger than Sir Alex.

Maybe you just 'forgot' about last season? Or thought that fergie wanted a points record or an additional cup? He's failed to deliver both. The league was sewn up by Feb due to our oppositions incompetence not our own brilliance.

Were Britain amazeballs to win ww2 or did we 'win' because our opponent made huge mistakes? Think about it.

Chelsea have shown that we could and should have been competitive on both Europa and champions league over the past seasons. Plus we havent even come close.

Wow, what the **** is wrong with you. Jesus.

As an Everton fan, this is the news I didn't want to hear, as I feel Moyes is certainly a prime candidate for the job. As a football fan though, it's a sad day as he really is one of the best managers of all time. He's done remarkable things with that club and anyone who replaces him will have to win trophies immediately otherwise be labelled a failure. It's going to be an interesting few weeks anyway until his replacement is announced.

If Carlsberg made Football Managers, they would be called Alex Ferguson. Probably the greatest Football Manager in the world.

All this talk of Mourinho is a bit premature, with a reported £20m compensation clause in his Real Madrid contract I don't expect the Utd board to sanction that kind of outlay plus whatever his contract demands would be.

Lol..put that ganja down son...it's messing with your head.

Who would want this job? They will be on a hiding to nothing.
If they have success it will be because whisky nose set it up that way before he left, and if not - well they ballsed up a premier league winning team..

Also, with him hanging about in the background as a director, few bad results and the fans will be calling for his return.

“It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so. The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.
