Sir Alex Ferguson

listen this may sound strange but i have always liked the idea of berbatov. dont get me wrong, but the 30 million price tag IS still too steep.

he is on great form, i mean you dont make my fantasy team for nothing and jepp he;s in there. but thats cost he costs 8.8 million. not 30 million.

i have a lot of UTD friends who have slated berba over the last 2 seasons, and i always argued that he was a good player. its difficult for me to prove this to you obviously. but even if he is great £30m for someone of his age is to me at least, outrageous.

funnily enough, i do remember me mentioning how 'Bale' wasnt the best winger i had ever seen, and wow, did i cop a pasting for that on here. but what has he done since?

im not fickle enough to change my tune so quickly. it would take a 30 goal season this year for berbatov and another one next year to come close to justifying that 30 mill.

and despite what the papers are saying about Torres, if i could go basck in time, id take torres each and every time over berba guaranteed. all this torres is rubbish talk is complete utter codswallop.

I made my point you called me childish
.

you made a point to be childish, because someone (with good reason i might add) called you childish.

i see...you've. err... not quite got me there:/

and as for why i stopped posting in the other thread, the logic failbomb:

The problem is the standard. If you consider Carrick a flop (who has helped us win several titles and a champions league) then the likes of Nasri, Walcott, Arshavin, Diaby, Denilson, Song, Eduardo, Silvestre, Fabianski are all flops, and that's just the ones recently, not even going back to the likes of Jeffers

how can you argue with that nonsense? personally i dont see Nasri, Arshavin, Eduardo flops. and Diaby, ye sif he cost what carrick did then he'd be a glop. Silvestre no idea what happened there - they must have run out of time and money but he wasnt 9 million or whatever smalling was - was he now?

You seem a little obsessed with money.

So if Chamakh only got say 6 goals this season....would he not be a flop because he was a free transfer?

LoL :D

I've asked you before and would appreciate a reply this time, how old are you Nick?

When Fergie took over he had an ageing squad that was full of drunks, no youth team, no millions to spend. He built a team good enough to win the league and I think up until that point the most we had paid for a player was 3.4 million for Roy Keane.

So do please expand on your point of this great youth team and the millions he had because he sure didn't have them for the first 4-5 years.

im 28. how old are you? from your childish antics im guessing its about half of that?

Do tell me, what was childish about that post?

Yes, you're the only one that's called me childish for a perfectly normal question, not someone Nick, you. Got you.

As for the quote, that wasn't even me :)

Roy Keane, I hope thats a joke.

We also go through a baron patch every season, stop being so fickle and jumping down fergies neck.

I was defending fergie and i know we go through a patch every season. I think you need glasses mate.

I said roy keane as in it would be nice to see him there and he will not have enough experience depending when fergie decides to go!

I suppose its easier picking on the new folk though? But at least read my post before you post something that was completely opposite on what i was saying.

Do tell me, what was childish about that post?

oh no it wasnt that that was a childish post. its your other posts i read the football news thread and its just u spamming one liners inecessently! theres a banter thread for that kind of gibberish! but it makes me think, oh jesus this guy has either way too much time or is about 10 in the head?

As for the quote, that wasn't even me

oh i know and i never said it was:/? you are so quick to go on the defensive. i dont really care if its you or not im addressing ill just pick up the points as i go.

IF you really want my opinion n berbatov go to last years transfer speculation thread, from page 17. you can see there its almost with a reluctance that i say that berbatov has no heart.

but also that a few people agreed with me, and that really only drunkenmaster disagreed.

But then one hat trick and wow, lets all hump onto this bandwagon eh?

my position has been clear from the start it was just too much and so fas he has delievered too little.

Not technically out and out criticism, but it is quite funny.

oh dear, and he scored the hat trick as a lone striker now did he? or does what i said still ring true? ah yes he was up front with rooney. i mean, its like you are going out of your way to try and make my opinion seem so polarised, but honestly im a man of my word and i stick to what i said there.

What football news thread?

I do post one liners which most people appreciate as banter and having a laugh, something which you fail to do, try and have a laugh one of the days.

The banter thread has been around for what? 3-4 days? Should I have used that for the past 5 years of your nonesense?

If you don't like it put me on ignore :)

I not 10 years old Dear Nicholas, nor do I have too much time, what the case is in reality is that you give your opinion which is obviously blinkered and fail to listen to another opinion even when it is clear you're wrong. You then take this personally and disappear when you are presented with facts.

It goes something like this - General thread --> Nickg posts ---> counter argument from whoever --> Nick disappears

Just because I pick you up on it you seem to have a problem with me? I'm not the only one that points out the faults in your posts.

If you want to take this personally, please email me away from the forums to discuss it :)

I knew you'd get your knickers a twist. Hows about:

(a) You tell me how many of Berbatov's goals Rooney was properly involved with? All three came from crosses didn't they? Apart from Rooney scuffing it a bit to give him the angle to bicycle kick the second, couldn't he have scored all of that hat-trick as a lone forward?

(b) Remind me when you get a sense of humour. Everyone's made bad posts on here. Get over it and don't be so sensitive.

lol i post something about football, you make inane comment. i decide i cba because you have either not answered the point or have gone at a complete tangent. kind of like this one? i hope you understand.

i am all for people having their own opinions. i have mine, you have yours. good luck with that. it doesnt mean that because yours is different to mine that it is correct, or better. but then neither of us would have formed an opinion that we personally believed would be false, because that would be maddness, wouldnt it?

i think the difference is that in every one of my posts i am commenting on football. in many of yours, you are just posting some kind of speil that does not relate directly to football. that is why i prefer to waste my time elsewhere. i reckon i could have more meaningful banter with a brick wall than yourself.

I knew you'd get your knickers a twist. Hows about:

hows that then? you show me in which games hes played up front on his own this season and how many goals he scored whilst doing so? we can judge by previous seasons surely your not fickle enough to overlook 2 seasons for the sake of a few matches now are you?

having rooney there means that there is another man to mark, its pretty obvious really. berbatov isnt the fastest if you have one man on him and one off him defending against him, he's going to struggle.

So if Chamakh only got say 6 goals this season....would he not be a flop because he was a free transfer?

if chamkh got 6 goals and was free, it isnt decided is he was a flop or not. maybe he was injured for 20 games? maybe he was unlucky. if he scored 6 tap ins and missed 20 sitters then yes he could be a potential flop.

No I never discuss football in this forum, I do go off on a tangent every single time, pull the other one.

I can sit here and debate football all day with you and sometimes I try to but again you back off when you realise you are losing.

Where have I gone of on a tangent in this thread? I have answered your questions and explained things to you, I'm trying to help you if anything.

Do you not think I would have been called out a fair few times if this was the case? When in reality it's YOU that gets called out and end up arguing with most of the forum.

I think you will find people agree with me on most points (even Arsenal fans agree with me) the MU fans certainly do, when have you ever had a discussion on here where people agree with you?

Having an opinion is all good and well (thats what forums are for) but you seem to be arguing all the time because of the weird way you see things, I point them out argument ensues.

Stick me on ignore nick because it is obviously pointless having a discussion with you. You can continue your hatred against MU and Ferguson and then you will only have to deal with the others that know you're wrong.

I've said to you before, if you have a problem with me or are taking all this personally, email me and we can discuss it :)

will do, but can i ask you to review this page:

tell me how many of your posts relate in any way to football, or an opinion on an event, player or team? or even discuss the football points i made on the prior page? thats right. none of them. i give u 3 strikes and your out, and you just used 4.

it seems that your infatuation with all things none football has stopped you from posting ANYthing other than some aborted attempt to drag me into a situation that frankly i dont have the time or effort for. id rather keep my football discussion focused on football, clearly you would rather something else, so i dont want to waste my time.

if you really want to think about this; id suggest you start hereL

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18136881&highlight=blockbusters&page=18

and then think, omg how fickle are these fans. they had no backbone to criticise me then when what i said was apparent, and suddenly he has come onto form and its the 2nd coming? i certainly didnt post the "buy berbatov a goal" youtube video. you can sense the resignation in my tone too, i wanted him to do well, but he just didnt do it well enough or consistently enough.

i agree he is on fire at the moment, he looks like he wants it. Is he suddenly worth the 30mil we paid? no. like i said he would have to have a great season and then another to come close.

You changed tact and started calling me childish, this discussion went beyond football when you ran out of arguments and restorted to calling me childish.

3 strikes and I'm out LoL **** off Nick.

Look at the last few pages, I started discussing football with you, I asked how old you were to gauge exactly what you know about the Ferguson era, very little it seems.

Well done Loki agreed with you, is that the only example you could find? Do you want me to dig out all of the times when every other single United fan on here has disagreed with you?

For the record I didn't question you about Berbatov, that would have been Shami, again you have atributed other peoples posts to be mine.

Was my first post in this thread.

To which you replied.......

im 28. how old are you? from your childish antics im guessing its about half of that?

Tell me again, whos the childish one that is not talking about football but trying to get a rise out of people?

Seriously grow up and admit you're wrong sometime, you make yourself look an idiot every time you post.

Well I've been a fairly consistent supporter of Berbatov over the years so I'll speak up. Couldn't really give a toss about your views on him, the thread's about Sir Alex and your views on him are nonsensical at best. Lot's of managers could have done what he has in his situation is a puerile, inherently flawed argument that bounds into wild realms of hypotheticals and deliberately minimizes his achievements I an attempt to support your view.

hows that then? you show me in which games hes played up front on his own this season and how many goals he scored whilst doing so? we can judge by previous seasons surely your not fickle enough to overlook 2 seasons for the sake of a few matches now are you?
Oh for the love of god. I love how you missed out my comment about your lack of a sense of humour. Just take my original post as cheeky throwaway fluff, forget I dared to suggest your Infallible Wisdom Of All Things Man Utd was in any way questionable.

I'll have to go back and check, but I'm pretty sure he scored his goals when the box was fairly packed with players, didn't he? As in, the midfield had had time to get up and support him. Thus rendering whether he was up front by himself or with another kind of redundant, surely?

Nickg give up man, it's embarrassing if you're actually 28 have the maturity to accept that your wrong sometimes.

@ Weebull, I don't see why Berba couldn't play up top on his own, as long as he got support. Nickg does have a point about having two up front gives defenders more to do, but with the correct support they'd have just as much to do.

I like him :)

I knew that faux dislike and name-calling was just a front for a deep seated love of the man, he's on a par with Shankly for you isn't he? ;)

Sir Alex Ferguson is almost unquestionably one of the greatest managers that Manchester United have ever had or let's put it another way if he's only managed what he has by luck then I'm sure 99% of football fans would be happy if their manager was as lucky. He's obviously made mistakes, some major and some minor, his dealings with players, staff, owners and the press have sometimes left a significant amount wanting but this isn't about whether he's a nice person who loves kittens and helps old ladies across the road - as a manager he's one of the greats.

The selective quoting is fantastic isn't it!

"I don't know how to respond to that so I will gloss over it"

Probably the greatest, as a Scotsman I'm sure you can appreciate where he took Aberdeen to, that I may add was without the trillions and the awesome youth team he's lived off with MU ;)

But lets not get caught up with the facts, he's **** really.
