Sir Patrick vs Cordon

I have to say, as a portly comic myself, I'd have to side with James as if i was in that situation i wouldnt just take crap from someone because they are more famous than me.

I'm far from a fan of Corden, but trying to get one over on a comic by making fat jokes , he really only left him one way out. James was aggressive rather than quick witted which let's him down but he had to react somehow.

All you guys saying he's crap etc and needs teaching a lesson, you have to remember comedy is subjective, not everyone likes the same stuff. Patrick Stewart came across as a bully IMO.
He isn't a comic though, he's a writer and at a push a comedy actor. The initial comment was about him showing a lack of respect for the people presenting/receiving awards, the second comment was in response to Corden heckling Stewart (pulling faces or whatever he did). I still think it smacks of being scripted or at least led by the producers after the first comment.

I found the behaviour of both of them a little disappointing.

Rather strangely for this thread I actually find Codron quite funny if I'm in the mood for his style of humour, and I absolutely love Sir Patrick as an actor and he has always come across as something of a Gentleman to me.

Seemed to me that Sir Patrick was right to be annoyed with Cordons behaviour, but should have had a word with him off camera if he was that bothered. I also thought that Cordon should have shown a bit more respect for Sir Patrick.

Overall the whole thing just made me cringe and feel a bit sad that they both let it happen :(

The fact that neither did, is what makes this seem the most like it was staged.

Oh dont get me wrong, I'm not siding with Patrick. I actually think it was wrong of him to publicly comment on someones physique.

I was just mentioning how utterly unfunny I find Cordon and his supposed comedic talent. I would say he was a one trick pony...but maybe one trick hippo would be more suitable.

I did not laugh your last sentence. Ok maybe a laughed at the one trick hippo.

This was my opinion. Never been a big fan of the guy and always liked Sir Pat but he did have a right to stick up for himself.

He did this the wrong way, you could see the anger on his face. If he wanted to put him down in a comedic way, do so, if he wanted to tell him to f off, do so, but the mix of the two was really cringe worthy and he came across as a complete prat. At least to my eyes he did.

Corden is a bell end of the finest calibre and shouldn't have been on the same stage as Stewart.

nail on head

people need to stop believing that hes a real life smithy and putting him on a pedestal. hes a nobber and would be a nobody without gavin and stacey where he was overshadowed anyway. god knows why hes got his show on tv during the WC

Isnt that the same lardass in an advert on tv says something along the lines of "look at the state of me"? If so enough said.

I must have watched a different video.
I saw Jean Luc insult Corden and then completely lose it.
I love you Jean Luc but what a prat you made out of yourself.

Corden acting like an idiot, interrupting Stewart, made a prat out of Corden.

Corden losing his cool, as a 'comedian' - was the definition of making a prat out of yourself.

Comedians use wit and quick thinking, not aggression. Imagine someone else up there like Sean Lock or Mitchell Webb - they'd have come back in an instant with something witty and light hearted, maybe a star trek joke or something. Comedians should be able to take a little poke now and then, they give it enough?

I think Corden showed his true colours.

Cant stand that Cordon Guy. He just is so unfunny.

Having said that I think It was beneath Patrick Stewart to have a pop at him like that as he came across a little patronising which isnt a nice quality to display on a stage infront of god knows how many people.

I really like Patrick Stewart as an actor albeit when he isnt acting in that science fiction nonsense ala Star Trek.

I think Sir Patrick had a bit too much Romulan Ale and got a bit carried away. Corden is just embarrasing and just EVERYWHERE... argh!! He's a caricature of himself.

The general public will soon get bored of him. With the exception of Radio 1's Newsbeat listeners. But then, that is little more than John Craven's News Round, only aimed at the lowest common denominator amongst young adult radio listeners.

You, like everyone, saw what you wanted to see. I did find Corden a little aggressive.
Just want to clear my point up, I'm not having a go - only it must be reasonably subjective else there wouldn't be such a split in opinion :)

I don't really know this Corden fellow but I'm a big fan of Jean Luc and I saw Jean Luc being an idiot.
