Six years in prison for a shag on the beach?

Not related to this thread or anything but I used the word shagging in a thread last week and it got fully starred out by a mod, even the -ing, and now you can use it in a thread title unimpeded. It amuzes me thats all.
 
This made me laugh:

The Foreign Office website says that in Dubai public displays of affection are unacceptable, and there have been several arrests for kissing in public. Sex outside marriage is illegal in the UAE, as is cohabitation, adultery and homosexual behaviour.

Their country they can live how they like. If you dont like it dont go there.

I dont agree with the laws either just to make that clear

Sorry for my lack of politicalness on the subject. I save my intelligence for making money and discussing real world issues. :p

If this woman wants to sweep an initial warning under the carpet and carry on jumping off wardrobes then she deserves all she gets, whether it be 1 year or 6 years.
 
I think thats a disgrace.
Having sex outside marriage is a crime?
Being drunk in public s a crime?

It is fairly disgusting how law works in some places, some governments are led by religion. Ours is led by money and stupidity. I don't know whats worse.

Edit. Thats illegal, the man should be in prison for having sex with that... god man, wheres your eyes? :D

If you'r refering to Grooverider getting sent down for 4 years it wasn't just the cannabis. They also found pornography on his laptop which is another no-no in the UAE.

I don't think it's double standards. The reason UAE is so safe and free from crime, chavs and all the other social problems that plague England is because they have such strict laws.

You think those nice electronic components in your mobile/ipod/pc weren't built by low paid asians in chinese sweatshops?

I won't even start on all the clothes we where from indiand sweatshops.
 
For a forum where I suspect fairly intelligent people visit, there's some fairly unintelligent and garish opinions/comments going on...

Quite simply, before condemning this women to death, or something approaching it, (or suggesting she deserves to be raped), maybe we should first be sure of the facts... *sheesh*

But I suspect the facts might get in the way for some of the couch-opinion-heros here!


it appears she broke the law, but this could range from a kiss/cuddle, to sex in a public place. We don't actually what she did (in reality)... So maybe the cries for a public lynching are a little early!

THis supposedly incredibly strict culture, where drinking Alcohol is completely against their religious beliefs, so have given certain hotels the right to serve drinks to foreigners, really strict. SO strict about their laws they let the chick off with a warning the first time, and she just threw it in their face. There isn't a country on this planet you should actively disrespect the police, and thats exactly what she did by doing the same thing again. But they are so strict, that they gave her a chance, most likely exactly because she was foreign? SO they gave her a break, she threw it in there face and then made it worse for herself and somehow that makes them strict.

people really need to think before they speak, you can get done in the UK for having sex in public, if a police officer here found you, let you off, you actively irritate said copper by repeating what you were doing, getting mouthy at the cop and breaking the law again. You're almost certain to get done here for that.
