Just heard this term used by the pathologist in a CSI type show ('Bones'... do they air that show in the UK?) I think the context was supposed to be serious...

What's the worst line you remember from silly American drama series?

Morris O'Brian: The designer of this algorithm built a backdoor into his code. Decryption's a piece of cake if you know the override codes.

Talking about cracking Blowfish encryption lol.

Not so much a worst line, but when they're searching a database, say of crims, and it does this:

Searching....
;)
:D
:o
:(

Match found: .

Of course, that's efficient.

What's wrong with the line?

I've heard it used before in books and tv. When a body decomposes the skin can literally slip off the bone.

Then there is what is referred to as "skin slippage." The skin basically sloughs off in the direction of gravity. There can even be what is known as degloving. For example, in the case on friday, the skin around the ankle and foot slipped off in such a way that it was hanging off the toe inside out. It sort of reminds you of a snake shedding its skin. If the body is found on its back, then the skin on the chest won't slip as much, but if you press on it, you can feel air bubbles underneath. The gases that are given off by the bacteria that are eating away at the insides cause the abdomen to swell.

Ewwww

That makes it funnier then - because the pathologist in Bones went on to explain what skin slippage was... and got it totally wrong! She said it was a mark on the skin from where the skin had slipped against other skin (like a friction burn I guess).

Any uses of pcs in any film or series ever. How can someone download the entire contents of a database in a few minutes and loads of other super computer stuff.

It's always the  smiley, damn him!

What really annoys me is where the director has gone to the actor "Just sit there and type", and you can quite clearly hear them mashing the keyboard without even a hint of knowing what they're typing. The West Wing is terrible for this.

I like how hacking is clearly just wacking the keyboard as fast as you can.

And general use of the PC is hammering the keys such as in CSI "Can you enlarge that?" "Sure" *hammers keys*. No mice needed!

surely that depends on the size of the database? and in most of these programs they are meant to be using cutting edge tech

"right, now zoom in on that car"

"enhance image...."

omfg, HD res!

I love this one.

My parents often want this. They ask "how come when I zoom in with PS, I can't sharpen it, it's all blury!" Where's the "enhance detail button" ?

;)
