Sky Broadband Unlimited (20Mbps) but getting max 1.7mbps

My true download is around the 500kbps region.

4mb/s on Speedtest but only 500kbps download?

I get a connection of around 13mb on the router. Download speeds on rapidshare around usually 1.6mb/s but sometimes reach 1.8mb/s

Strange, seems to be slowly building up speed. It seemed like it was limited to 1.5mb/s a month or so ago

Well speedtest is'nt the best of sites to test with, thats why i allways use large torrent files so it can reach its max peak.

If i was to go by speedtest then i would only expect to get around 400kbps.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I connected an ethernet cable to my sky router over the weekend to do a bit of gaming. I knocked it off the side so connected reset it with the cable in.
I pulled the cable out about an hour or so later and went back to wireless. It seemed fast so decided to check the router page, the sync had gone from 13mb to 18mb for some reason. I tried a download on wireless it it was same as normal - around 1.8mbps I then tried with an ethernet cable in and it got a constant 2.5mbps

I use a WG111 network adapter, its generally fast enough for everything I do but with this new connection speed would it be worthwhile me getting a WN111? Will the Wireless N technology allow me to get a better download speed/ping than the Wireless G?
