Sky Fibre Optic

Couple of weeks in and it's going ok.
Estimated 26-30
Getting around 19 at peak and 24 off peak. So 4-5times slower than virgin, but youtube now works which is a big bonus.

Random question. Currently on sky llu in my village, and get about 13Mbps down.We are thinking of moving to a nearby village, that is 2 miles away, but the average llu speed is only 2Mbps!
As the area is due to be upgraded with fttc in the near future, would there be an improvement on those speeds with fibre?

5th day on Sky now, and tonight everything is diabolical ... Ping responses and speed tests are ok and displaying the usual speed, but i'm suffering about 15% packetloss on Teamspeak and trying to play BF3 or Black Ops is just impossible.

I've rebooted the Openreach modem and also reboot my Asus RT-N66U with Merlin and still no difference.

Is this the kind of service I should expect from Sky, because BF3 and TS3 are the main two things I do on it ... Is there any point even logging this with Sky?

35/5 is usually about right for me

Hi, do not reboot the BT modem[last resort] and the Hub should only done once in a 24 hour period as the DLM will think you have problems and reduce your speed. If your speed gets reduced it take's about 48hrs goes up again and some times by small amounts only.

As for Blop2 or TS3 never had any problems at all, the best thing to do is check to see if your exchange has problems and ask sky to check your line out for faults if things don't improve.

I'v had sky fibre since April and its been great, 40/10 beat's 7.2mb/0.5mb anyday.

Hey,

Thought I'd ask in here. I ordered the sky tv/broadband/phone package for a new property I'm moving into next weekend. All went through fine and I paid the £60 connection charge (availability checker for sky and bt was fine).

I've been having messages that the line is being activated on the 13th (there's a phone number in 'My Account') and the bb engineer is due to visit on the 19th. The thing that's got me though is that I was there yesterday and I couldn't for the life of me find a socket. (Couldn't even see where the line entered the house).

Will the engineer on the 19th be fitting a socket? I assume there must be a line to the house or it wouldn't have passed the availability checks but I'm pretty sure about there being no socket. I'd hate for the engineer to turn up and tell me that I needed to go with Virgin media.

Yes he will, but l would ring sky and just to make sure tell them there's no line, what speed have they estimated if any?

For availability check goes off your post code to find if you can get FTTC.

I always ring Sky to find things out, its a lot easier Sky Fibre Broadband team is 08442 41 01 04, they should be able confirm if you can get fibre pro.

Hi, thanks for reply.

Sky estimated 40.9mb and BT 67.7mb so I guess the property isn't far from the green box.

The thing that has me wordering is that as it is a converted flat could they be looking at an old line that went into what is now the ground floor flat(their systems do have both flats separately on file)? The only thing that reassures me slightly is that they have assigned a number to the line so I was pretty sure there must have been a line going into the building?

Any advice appreciated but if needed I will give them a call.

Hey guys. Switched from BT to Sky fibre last month. Things seemed fine for a while but recently I'm having poor performance.

My PC is wired, if I check the router status it says down connection at 39mb and up at 10mb. Speedtest.net reports about 37.5 down.

However I can't even play a bloody youtube video on the PC lately and my Nexus over wifi is dog slow. Any suggestions

YouTube has been a bit sticky for me intermittently over the last month on 22Meg ADSL.

Not sure where the problem lies. It starts off quite quick but can't always buffer the remainder in of the file fast enough. Everything else is fine - XBox live, Netflix, downloads, speedtests etc. Just seems to be YouTube, so I guess it's the backhaul connection to YouTube.

I'm with Sky and only a month into a new 12 month contract (got a good deal). I've been keeping an eye out to find out when I will be able to get fibre. It would appear my exchange has now been upgraded but the Sky website still states I'm not eligible for fibre. Am I best off just ringing up to see when they will be taking orders or if they have any further info? When I spoke to the Sky retentions team last month the lady had no info. My exchange is LCBUR.
