Sky Fibre Optic

If you're getting 6mb ADSL then you should expect A LOT more than 26mb on FTTC, I would expect at least 40+. My village was on 1.5mb on ADSL and most get 23mb now

1) Depends how busy your area is
2) 5Mb
3) Yes

Thanks guys,

As for the installation does it NEED to have the openreach modem installed on the master socket? Reason I ask is my router and media server are upstairs in a extension I ran using cat5e when I got my house, so ideally its better up there for me.

You should be able to use the Cat5e you already have.

My modem is upstairs connected via one pair of a Cat5e cable (with two voice lines running though two of the other pairs). The speed is the same as plugging in directly.

As currently a seperate modem and router are provided, could you not keep the modem by the master socket and use the existing cat5e as the link between your modem and router?

True, thanks guys. I don't need voice upstairs as I've got a wireless handset up there so I could just pull the cat5 from the back of the master socket and crimp and end on and do the same upstairs doing away with the physical phone box :)
