Sky Fibre Optic

That is a rather good deal!

Over a shorter distance, it isn't that bad, but they really need to make it compete with the HomeHub5. I'd hate to have to do use it for large file transfers too.

Each day the speed seems to drop by about 6000kbps due to the 'DLM' at the cabinet, but the stupid thing is, it makes the line no more stable as the Attenuation and Noise readings are the same if not slightly higher!?!

I'm going to give it a few more days and send them an email asking about it, the speed is almost that of their standard fibre package now.

Hi guys. I currently got a Asus rt-ac68u. Has anyone actually got a Asus to work on sky fiber? I'm. Currently on 80/20 service and really want to use my own router. I know I have to keep the open reach modem. Any ideas?

Thanks

Probably about 75% in this thread yes ... Looks like you already have Merlin, check this screenshot towards the bottom, shows you what you need to enter and where, reboot and jobs a good an

It is, but to be honest with you, I thought the very latest FW on the AC68U had the MER credentials field built in, thus removing the need for a Merlin FW upgrade (unless obviously you wanted to tweak a few more things)

Maybe it does and I'm doing it incorrectly. . Do I need to let it sync before I do anything?

No, once you enter your obtained sky user/pass and reboot the Asus (not the OR modem) then it should be on just fine

On the above pic under on the MAC address do I put the MAC address that's on my sky router? Then follow that up with my username and password that I obtained from wireshark?
Sorry I'm a noob

I read something earlier (pretty sure it was this Asus router model) saying to go through the easy set up method, as it should have an option for Sky. Then you just enter your details extracted from the Sky Hub and it does it for you.

I don't believe MAC address cloning is necessary. I've never done it, and I use my Time Capsule now and never did it when I had their ADSL.

thank you everyone! I've have now sorted it!you guys are legends!! only took me about 4hours hahaha!! thanks everyone :D much love xx

I seem to now have IPv6 running on my connection!

I read about Sky possibly pushing it for later this year, but I seem to have it now.

Do you perhaps mean that you've enabled IPv6 for your LAN devices? I can't find anything to say that Sky have introduced IPv6 yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong! :o:)

It might just be that. My time capsule gives me both IPv4 and v6 info, but I only understand so much. I did a 'whats my IP' check and it said I have one for both.
Anyway, I did a test and it appears it could actually just be the time capsule doing it all, as it mentions about it being '6to4'.

So.. Oops, my mistake. :D
