Sky Fibre Optic

Yes the Sky Hub is not great but I'm afraid the HH5 can't be used with Sky as it does not support the MER authentication used by sky.

I'm afraid your only option is to look at purchasing an alternative router, the Asus ones are good.

That's a pain, I was hoping not to have to spend that much!

The WiFi speed drops to <10mbs when I've got more than 1 device doing something, it's absolutely useless. With the HH5 I've got 4-5 things all running at the full 40Mb but for some reason it keeps dropping out every now and then. It didn't do it when on BT so I can only assume it's the way I've got it configured with the Sky Hub, I'll have to have another go at re-configuring tonight.

Never really had a problem with the Skyhub, mine does suffer from poor signal strength but still downloads at 40mb or so.

My sky hub as been fine as well - I get 60mb on the pro package (gradually creeping up from 55mb about 3 months ago) - wireless is good for the 4 bedroom detached, very had any issues with it.

Tried a few 3rd party routers but always had issues with wireless/connection etc

Did you give up on the TP-Link?

yeah - it was generally fine for connection and good wifi coverage but for some reason i just didn't play nicely with my sonos.

Tried loads of stuff, sonos support were brilliant and I spent an hour with them on phone and various things trying all sorts of settings but it would play music for about 15 mins then just cut out.

Nothing else dropped on the wifi at all - connection was fine with Sky etc - just didn't play nice with Sonos for some reason.

Shame - great router, loads of options but the sonos was a killer.

The Sky hub has no issues with Sonos - plays all day on the radio/music for the dog when we go out and never drops

What speeds do people get on Sky fibre? I live reasonably close to the exchange and I think I only get like 25mb down. Is this normal? Thought it would be higher...

How good or bad is the Line Attenuation for 23.2dB down, 0.0dB up.

SNR 18.9dB down, 7.7dB up.

Only been connected 6 hours 49 minutes.

Any one having an issue with the line dropping out on a Friday/Saturday mines done it now for the past 2 weekends and it's starting to grate on me

Hey guys, can one of you confirm what the upload speed is on the generic 38mbps sky fibre package ?

I'm also kind of shocked that the sky hub is limiting connections : https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18720454

I'm thinking that it may be a mistake to switch from plusnet :o

Ive only got 8 attached devices ATM so im good for a while
been with -net before, customer service was extremely poor although that was a few years back when they first started, still i wouldn't return.

Router shows

Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps):9995
Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps):39998

Yeah I've been in touch with retentions this morning and they are simply not budging  Offering me a lousy fiver off per month to stay :/

Guess I'm not a cash cow worth retaining then

Hmm, is that including network printers? Even though they don't actually access the net.

The D2 *may* have a beta firmware supporting the correct DHCP options for Sky's MER implementation, but you'll still need a dedicated modem such as the HG612 or ECI and in all honesty the C2 is cheaper and allows for Gargoyle 3rd party firmware etc. from memory, so if you haven't already purchased the D2 then look to buy the C2 - a well known high street store was selling the Archer's off cheaply recently.

Looks like it does:
