Sky Fibre Optic

Hi everyone, i'm due my 80/20 Sky Unlimited Pro installation on 11th June, and I cant wait!
Ive been quoted an estimated speed of 66mbps, so im quietly optimistic that I'll be getting around 70mbps if past estimates are anything to go by. The Sky chappie on the phone wasnt able to quote me an upload speed, but i reckon 15mbps should be available?
Anyway, im conting the days at the moment, and when its all up and running, I'll report back with some speedtest results.

Out of interest, what made you go for the PRO version. Will you be using the connection for anything which requires such high bandwidth?

well the guy on the phone offered me it for £20 (same price as 40/10) + phone line, i'd be mad not too!
I originally called them to cancel my Sky TV, and was gonna switch to VM, so to keep me with Sky, they mad me an offer i couldnt refuse. Its a 12 month offer, and after that, i'll have to pay the same as everyone else.

Just used the speed checker link on above link and it says i should get 64.6/20.

Coming form 19/1.2, i think i could live with that.

i forgot to mention earlier, I had to pay an installation/activation fee of £50, which apparently you dont have to pay on 40/2.

well I've had fibre for less than a week now and already I'm thinking of cancelling, totally not impressed with Sky's complete and utter incompetence, I'm not paying an extra £12.50 per month for 1mb more speed, my BTO modem is syncing at 39996 and my sky pants router's throughput is less than 20mb, time to call and cancel!

At this stage this my thoughts too.

Anyone using a non sky router?

It's a known issue. See the Sky User forum.

I have my sky router wireless disabled and got it plugged into an apple router, I haven't even used the sky wireless cos its rubbish, you can't use another router due to the MER setup they use apparently
