Sky Fibre Optic

So after having Sky Fibre fitted at the end of December - I was without outgoing calls all over Christmas as the BTO engineer didn't wire up the faceplate correctly. Then just over a couple of weeks ago I started experiencing constant dropouts and reconnects for over a week. And today I have no connection. Great service.......Not! Never had any problems with Sky ADSL for many years.

You could check to see if your exchange is over subscribed could be part of your problem, Sky admint this and they are increasing capacity.

I have already checked via that link and my exchange is not affected. Thanks anyway though. Finally come back on about an hour ago. Let's see how long for this time!

:/ just phoned sky to see if i could get an earlier date for installation (currently the 18th) and the guy sounded very irate at the request. Really hoped i could get it a week earlier st least :(

Clue: Look out the window....

Seriously, weeks of snow, rain and now flash floods and you're ringing up and asking them to get their finger out!

A simple request doesn't need to be met with poor customer service accusing me of being one of these people that have been ringing up constantly in an attempt to get through to someone that could process the request.... I also stated "in case there were any cancelations elsewhere" which has nothing to do with wether it had snowed or not.

Ive had a fault for a couple of weeks where my PC at random times keeps on dropping the Gateway - I'm having to restart the LAN Card in my PC/Wireless devices to get back on.

Sky are unable to run a line test because Openreach don't have sky down as the owner of my line.

Sky are sending me a new router :)

My connection started dropping again last night. I have also had a problem from the beginning where I will download a file and it hangs at the end and continues to say a few seconds remaining even though it shows it has downloaded the whole file. This is intermittent and usually work at the second time of asking after canceling the original download. Whats going on with Sky Fibre!

Grrrrr. I was weak willed and ordered an Asus RT-n66u. It came this morning but it's obviously a used unit as it is missing a load of packing material and has been configured for a Virgin Media connection.

Not best pleased.

Had my Sky Fibre installed on Monday. I'm getting about 38mbps down, 9 mbps up in speed test, but when I check network activity in task manager, its over 40/10. I'm guessing this is normal?

is this any good for heavy pc usage..on line gaming mmos etc with two poeple doing the same thing under one roof ..

sorry for muilti replys just moving in my own place very soon and want an internet ..as i keep getting told by my mum can't have VM -.-

Had a quick scan through the thread, but nothing jumped out.

It is possible to combine the BTO Modem and the Sky Hub and have a single solution? Is there a single working solution on the market able to fulfil this criteria?

Got my fibre installed Thursday, orderd it online, BT Open reach guy came installed everything

done some tests in the flat, said we could get 40mb ran a cable into my pc room so I can get the modem in here no the hallway anyway the BT modem synced at 31266 and on speed test im getting

Had my Sky Fibre installed today, full 40/10 sync, Openreach engineer was really good. WAY better than Virgin Media, YouTube actually works for a start!

Will definitely be upgrading to Pro ASAP (I tried today but apparently they can't process it until the order is showing as complete on their system):

Hey I have a airport Extreme could you point me in the right direction for any guides to hack mine so I can use it instead of the sky router , cheers

Setting up a few devices on my sisters fibre connection, something Ive noticed, I bought her a TP-Link wireless dongle capable of 300Mb transfer speed, but in the status in windows 7 it wont go higher than 54Mbps.

Is the Sky Hub using wireless G only even on performance mode?
