Sky Fibre Optic

I am after the sky fibre and have checked the sky and but websites and even phoned up sky who me have said nothing available yet also stating that there always a couple off weeks behind after but installs the fibre to the exchange, BT on the other hand have said that there is nothing available for me and to check back later.

Here is the thing open reach PDF have the my exchange as taken orders also map shows mine an a few others as the same, last few weeks from the telephone exchange they have being laying out underground that is fibre cabling, I spoke to one off the men laying this cable and he has said there awaiting on now the cabling to get crimped connected.
Now I see from passing that there is open reach in were they started nearly laying the cables doing some work, that could be them doing the joining off cables,
Samknows says excepting orders in some areas.

So to date I am thinking there still finishing up on the connecting off fibre at my exchange.

If the openreach stuff says accepting orders it means the 'exchange' is fibre enabled but in order for you to be able to order your Cabinet needs to be linked to the exchange and be active hence why some houses could get fibre in your area but you cannot.

Yes I would agree about it apart from the cabinets that there is none above ground on were they laying the cables underground instead and I only live less then 80 metres from the exchange maybe a 1 to 2 minute walk.

I did'nt bother checking pdf's and all that stuff, all i did was regularly check on the bt main website what my address could get with them, was always saying just ADSL for months, then one day also said infinity. To me its by far the easiest way, as all the other methods are about the exchange and not your property.

Have you checked that you are no connected directly to the exchange? with that short a distance you might be and that becomes a problem as you cannot get FTTC if your not connected to a cabinet.

Yeah thats the option, but Sky were championing 40mbps vs 40mbps with "We're cheaper", and 2 days later BT stuck 2 fingers up and doubled their speed (or rather announced plans to).

I just dont get why Sky are charging more? I mean they could charge more and still keep it under BTs price but an extra tenner seems baffling. It eliminates their line rental advantage too...

Oh FFS Sky!

I changed my bloody appointment slot from early morning Wednesday coming to next Friday afternoon, and even have confirmation email for it. Got an email my router is on its way with the appointment listed as the 2nd again! Logged in and low and behold its the 2nd again! Not happy! Next appointments are the week after that now!!

What is the point in offering slots at all, when they don't honour them? I booked my original appointment when ordering for Tuesday.

Sky aren't over selling anywhere near as much as BT for a start

Just installed sky fibre here and all is fine, took 20 mins to do but stuck at 20 meg atm until the line gets fannied with but can get up to 73meg apparently so just have to wait a few days for the full 40. Well worth the extra 10 quid a month.

Good to hear.

Had my router dispatched today so hopefully I can do some packet sniffing and work out how this dhcp option gets sent.
