Hi, my speed was about the same as yours, now at 40000dwn/9996up, bloody great.:D

This is on their unlimited broadband package, wonder what it will be like on the fibre, I'm guessing much better.[/

Can't wait for a decent connection -

Thats mine, just taken that off the site now, that was running the first night.

Edit: This is Sky's Unlimited Broadband not fibre.

Edit2: You can actually see when I was gaming and when I went to bed >_>

Getting it installed on the 7th :) The lady on the phone didn't understand the concept of an extension kit howver, so I fear I may have to do some rewiring when it's done :(

I'm hoping not to need it if he or she can use my existing run. I've seen things about it's free but you HAVE to pre-book it.

And it is sky, so I have no doubt at all that something will go wrong somewhere...

I thought the same as you before i booked it - i called up sky and they told me the engineer will have one for every install, and when he came he told me the same!

Is there any way to get the stats(max connection rate etc) from the sr101 modem?

I've got my login/password from it, but I want to know if it's worth me upgrading to fibre pro.

You'll need to unlock the modem. Do you have Huawei or ECI?

Ring sky up and they should be able to tell you roughly what speed you should get with fibre, if your exchange + cabnet support FTTC.

I just had a look and it's the ECI one, and I just had a look around and it's harder to crack by the looks of it - I don't want to mess it up.

I got that page, cheers quish, and it's sync'd at max up/down. It looks like I'll just ring Sky and see what they have to say. I have Fibre, but just the standard package, I just wanted to find out if it was worth the upgrade, speed wise, to fibre pro. No point in upgrading if I barely get any faster.

Cheers.

Hey guys,

I'm getting Sky Fibre Pro installed at my parents next Monday (04th) and want to swap the standard Sky router, not the OR one, to use my older Draytek Vigor 2820.

Is that at all possible? Its my first exposure to FTTC so in my head it should just technically work as long as I tell the Vigor that its just going to be doing routing and to hand everything off to the OR modem.

Anybody got experience or insight? :)

My problems continue. After no outgoing calls over Xmas due to the BTO Engineer wiring up the new faceplate wrong. Then constant connection dropouts. Last week had to phone sky again as I had no dial tone and couldn't receive incoming or out going calls. Now this morning I have no Internet at all (again). This is by far the worst service I have ever received. Wish I never left BT. The Sky ADSL I had before fibre may have been slower but I never had any problems over the many years I had it. This is getting beyond a joke now.

Still no Internet now I have got home from work 12 hrs later. Phone sky up to report problem. Sorry.....the fibre team have gone home. Phone back tomorrow. What a bunch of clowns.
