Press home, then scroll down to settings, then press 0-0-1 and the central 'Select' button. That should get you to the engineering menu where you can disable the Wifi radios.
 
Got this installed this week.

2TB Box
2 Mini's

£200 upfront for the new equipment and installation. Paying roughly £50 a month i think for everything except movies.

So far so good, the engineer did point out that there a few issues - Thumbnails not loading but the content is still there, boxes randomly recording whatever they want but software updates are coming soon to fix this.

Got the 2TB set up via a powerline, is it worth me disabling wifi via the engineer menu? or do i still need that intact for the mini's and mobile apps?
 
If the minis are connected to the main box via Ethernet or powerline, you can turn off the Wifi on them.

If the main box is connected to your broadband via Ethernet AND the above is true, you can turn off the Wifi on that too.
 
Aye same issues my SkyQ keeps failing to display thumbnails - had this around new year for about 3 weeks then magicly they return, though about 2 weeks ago they buggered off again.
 
New Firmware update (Q004.001.55.19L) starting to roll out.

Additions and improvements are:

Sky Q said:
  • Voice Search
  • You can now search for something using your voice, just press the microphone button on the right hand side of the Sky Q Touch remote and start talking.
  • Feature requires a Sky Q Touch remote (comes as standard only with Sky Q 2TB boxes), not supported on regular Sky Q remotes. Customers with Sky Q 1TB and Sky Q Mini boxes can purchase additional Sky Q Touch remotes from the Sky Accessories Shop in order to use this feature on those boxes.
    Reordered Homepage
  • My Q is now the default landing position when the Home button is pressed on the Q remote.
  • My Q has also been moved up to sit bellow TV Guide, meaning the TV Guide is now only one swipe up after pressing Home.
  • CatchUp TV has been moved down to sit bellow Recordings, meaning Recordings is now just one swipe down after pressing Home.
    My Q
  • The “Continue”, “New Series” and “For You” vertical sub menus have been removed from the My Q section. Instead content in the My Q section will now be displayed on one screen and separated into sections by sub headings.
  • The “Continue”, “New Series” and “For You” vertical sub menus have been removed from the My Q section. Instead content in the My Q section will now be displayed on one screen and separated into sections by sub headings.
  • As standard My Q will contain the sub headings “Continue watching” & “New series this week” which will display a limited ammount of content, however additional sections can be created remotely to promote content.
    High Contrast User Interface
  • For those people with visual impairment, a High Contrast option has been added to the Accessibility section. When enabled the Sky Q menus will switch to a monochrome style instead of the regular blue interface.
  • The high contrast option can be enabled by going to: Settings > Accessibility
    Restart: Entertainment Shows
  • The Watch from Start option has been extended to support selected entertainment channels. When selecting a live program from one of these channels which started more than 5 minutes ago, if that episode is already available OnDemand, a message will appear on screen giving you the option to press Select to watch from start.
  • If you then press Select the box will start downloading the episode form OnDemand. Once the download is “Available” you’ll then be able to select it to start watching your show from the beginning.
  • If the Watch from Start message is dismissed, you can still press Select at any point to bring up the Mini Guide and then press Select again to restart your show.
  • Watch from start is supported on the following entertainment channels; Challenge, Challenge ROI, Challenge +1, PICK, PICK ROI, PICK+1 Sky Arts, Sky Atlantic, Sky Atlantic ROI, Sky Atlantic +1, Sky Living, Sky Living HD, Sky Living ROI, Sky Living ROI HD, Sky Living +1, Sky 1 HD, Sky 1 HD ROI, Sky 1 +1.Download Next: Ultra HD Content
  • Download Next now support Ultra HD content. When playing back a program downloaded from OnDemand in Ultra HD, if the next episode is available OnDemand in Ultra HD the box can now automatically download this version.
    Other Changes
  • A "New Series" option has been added to the TV Guide section, this will contain the full new series list which was previously found in My Q.
  • A "Continue" option has been added to the Recordings section, this will contain the full list of programs available to continue watching which was previously found in My Q.
  • Ultra HD content will now be listed within search results
  • The TV Guide now indicates that pressing the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons advances the guide +24hrs and -24hrs respectively.
  • WiFi password can now be entered using the keypad on the Sky Q remote.
  • Facebook videos can now be viewed from within the “Your Videos” section of the My Photos sidebar app.
    Bug Fixes
  • Addresses an issue where the box may stop responding or appear to be stuck in standby after being left on live TV overnight.
  • Fixes an issue where a black screen may be seen when exiting red button services using either the Home or Sidebar buttons.
  • Fixes an issue where the progress bar jumps forwards or backwards erratically when using Fast Forward or Rewind when playing back a recording.
  • Fixes an issue where the Sky Q 2TB box will download the HD version of a program instead of the Ultra HD version, despite the "OnDemand Default Download Format" being set to Ultra HD.
  • Fixes an issue where the "Picture Resolution" setting sometimes reverts to 1080i from 2160p.
  • Fixes an issue where the wrong message is displayed on screen when trying to watch Ultra HD content with the "Picture Resolution" settings not set to 2160p.
  • Fixes an issue where after downloading a rental from Sky Store a message banner is displayed on another device stating that the rental cannot be viewed on multiple devices at the same time.
  • Fixes an issue where an entitlement message is incorrectly displayed when playing back a partly downloaded Sky Store rental.
  • Fixes an issue where when searching for a Box Office event and attempting to record the event, a message appears on screen stating that the programme cannot be recorded.
  • Fixes an issue on Sky Q Mini boxes where a YouTube video would finish playing but the next video does not play, despite the box showing a LOADING screen.
  • Fixes an issue where search sometimes won't return results.
  • Fixes an issue where the Sky Q remote’s low battery indicator incorrectly shows on screen.
  • Firmware rollout commenced: Thursday 9th March 2017.

Limited number of boxes will get the update to begin with, around ten percent I've heard. The update is NOT on the download stream at this time.

Voice search works really well. Movie, actor, director all bring up results.
 
Oh I know that but it's still nowhere near as nice as the button remote. If it scrolled down like a smart phone it'd be brilliant but the one swipe per menu item is just really awkward IMO.

Never been part of a limited amount before.
Our box got the update overnight, all functiins working well.
Voice search working extremely well, not missed a beat yet, everything I've asked for it found first time with no errors or mistakes.

Agree completely, in fact have bought a second one to go with the mini box upstairs, as kept getting very annoyed when trying to use the non touch remote that came with the mini.
 
Hello All,
Long story but I'm moving house for a month, I've got the full Sky Q Package (2TB Box) and the house I'm going to live in has everthing but Sports (and a 1 TB Sky Q), is there any issue simply unplugging my Sky Q and using it at the other house for a month? I really don't want to go through the no doubt pain of officially "moving" when its realtivly short term...I'd obviously like to keep watching the Sports I am paying for...
