*** Sky Q Thread ***

Yep, was with Sky from BskyB days back in 1990 until 2019 and had one year with Virgin. Think I will dump both and manage with Freeview and Amazon/Netflix.
That's exactly my plan too. I bought an Amazon FireTV 4K stick for £25 the other week - it's superb compared to Sky. Much better image quality with Dolby Vision HDR, more apps including Apple TV and a better interface. Couple that with a £20 256Gb USB flash drive in the back of my TV to record from Freeview and I'm sorted. Bye bye Sky...

Sky really are a bunch of crooks. No consistency to anything they do, be it their pricing, their hardware or their customer service. I'm the same as you - seeing out my contract then ditching them for good after nearly 20 years as a customer.
Necessary evil for me currently I think. Just renewed mine because it's just 'easy' to have it all together in one package and we use Cinema/Sports a LOT. Not a bad deal but also nothing to write home about.

Funny you should say that, yesterday I bought a JVC 4K Fire Edition HDR tv that has Alexa built in and coupled with my Amazon Prime account its quite impressive. Now the tv enthusiasts will be tutting but for £279.99 it was unbelievable value and has a very nice picture and very decent sound as well as headphone socket/audio optical/3.5 jack/Wi-Fi/bluetooth/Dolby vision/HLG/HDR10/4XHDMI 2.0b/Usbx2 and more. Best value tv I have ever bought. Sorted Hasta La Vista Sky.

I've been so close to getting away from Sky on a couple of occasions - but in my head I have a "price for convenience" and as long as that is roughly what I'm paying Sky, I tend to be happy.
I was on a rolling contract for my TV since March (long story, contacted Sky as my contract came to an end, agreed a deal - whoever I spoke with failed to put the deal through. Bill actually increased - they put me onto the deal I'd agreed, but didn't tie me back into contract).
I gave them a call on Sunday due to their Black Friday pricing.
Managed to get:

Sky Signature
Ultimate TV Add-On (Netflix, Box Sets etc)
HD & UHD
£23

Add on my Superfast Broadband which I'm currently paying £17 for.
£40/month and I cannot complain at that.

I wonder how many people who leave Sky do so and then don't take into account the fact they are now pirating TV content instead of paying for it.
I'm not saying everyone does, but the number of people who say "Yer, I stopped using Sky and I've saved myself £xx a month" - yet they still consume programming from Atlantic and the like.
It's really not a fair comparison when that is the alternative option taken.

Does anyone else have the problem of going to recordings and the box says there are none, you move up and down on the menu and it refreshes correctly and shows the recordings?

Haven't had that on mine, but I don't really record that much any more. What hardware/software version is your box? Have you tried a full power off reboot?

I think i had something similar a couple of times, when i finish watching a program i go back and delete it then it looks like there aren't any more. So i go out the planner and back in and then the next episode appears.

I think he means those who leave sky and buy an iptv service, rather than those who just settle with freeview. Speaking of which, the word freeview always angers me considering it's not free.

Ah, I've googled them and they certainly look dodgy, including large warnings plastered across some of the websites regarding streaming copyrighted material. Ta.

Going to have to give an attempted "cancellation" to see what Sky Q deal I can get. My hopes aren't high and I don't actually want to leave.

Stuck on Sky+ HD box currently, I want Sky Q Multiscreen, Signature, UHD & HD, Sky Sports (only for F1!), Movies would be nice, but not essential and to keep my broadband.

What do you pay currently?

I am paying £82 a month for a 2tb Q box, 1 mini box. HD, Sports and movies HD, 79Mbps BB and the full package inc Netflix and on demand. Was quite a good discount.

Last week I got the following:
  • Sky Signature
  • Ultimate add-on (Netflix/Box Sets)
  • Multiscreen (4 mini's)
  • UHD
  • All Sports
  • Cinema
  • Kids
  • 79Mbps BB
£88 a month

Down to £75 for:

2Tb Q + 1x Multiscreen
Ultimate
UHD
Cinema
F1
Broadband

I get a lot more for less. Could have done better i'm sure but I'm happy with that for another 18 months.

I only renewed last month and they did me a new black friday deal, all TV, UHD, multiroom, 80mb/s internet, BT Sport and free evening and weekend calls for £109.

It's 22 quid a month extra plus the free calls is another fiver i think. Going direct with BT for sport was nearly 40 quid a month.
