Got my sky q installed yesterday, not had long to play with it but upto now I'm very impressed, it's so slick and fast compared to virgin, just one slight concern regarding security, with the sky q app I was able to connect to main box without any password/pin etc, what's to stop neighbours doing the same and getting free sky off me or messing with my recordings, settings etc?

They would have to be on your WiFi network?
I thought that maybe it recognised my devices were on the same network it allowed it, I'll try something else that isn't to check it out
It's based on your wifi connection, wouldn't imagine your neighbours have access to it.

Does Sky Q not stream over internet?
I have some guilty pleasure shows I watch like some daytime and a soap, would it download 1080p or is it from Iplayer, ITV, 4, 5 servers?
itv hub for example only has SD content.

Sky Q, much like Sky+HD doesn't stream as such. It downloads and stores on your internal HDD so you're not watching the stream, you're watching from your hard disk. That's why you can't start watching until the box knows the download time is less than the length of the movie.
So Seeing as its winter and our consevatory barley gets used i decided to move one of my mini box's to my upstairs office..
since then at around 11pm each night the mini box lags and freezes every 5-10 seconds.. have to reset the Q box to sort it.. next day it will be fine all day then same time again in the evening starts lagging / Freezing. tried on both wored and wireless and does the same.
What can possibly be significant about that time?

done same again tonight.. 11 on the dot and its going all blocky again. been watching for the last two hours no problems.
This is weird all that happens is my amp gets turned off downstairs and the picture upstairs on the mini box lags.. just been down and turned off the Q box and its stopped lagging..
wonder if some kind of HDMI control on the amp is trying to turn the sky box off and causing interference

Sky website today half price 12 months for new customers
I'm currently on the 60% off deal on the full package, this was taken out in February I believe, so it'll expire soon.
I then took out Sky Q for £12 extra per month or whatever it is 2 months ago.
How do I go about negotiating a new deal when the full package ends?
I ordered on Tuesday, my install date is 5th January!

Your contract is for 12 months from when Q was installed, if you had any offers on your account they would have transferred over with the new Q contract until as such time they ran out, then the non offer price applies for the remaining time of your 12 month contract.
