Sky UK launching HDR Wednesday 27th May.

Even if my box isn't HDR capable I am not really that bothered in the slightest as I can watch plentiful HDR through the apps in my tv. I will enquire about it, of course, but as the content in sky is limited, I don't feel I am missing out in any form..

Test is useless it seems, quoted on AVForums:
"I checked that on my v2 box and it comes up with hdr capable = false, yet Gangs of Lemurs triggered the HDR HLG pop up on my LG OLED. so I’m not sure how much stock I’d place in that info page."

Post within the Sky community HDR thread "As has been posted a few dozen times in this thread, Sky are working on a process to upgrade v1 boxes, but the rollout of that has been impacted by COVID19. Hence the reason for the low key launch of HDR with only a small range of content."

What can I watch in HDR then, cannot find anything.
Is Disney+ now HDR capable through the box? How can I tell?

Found Gangs of Lemurs, shows HDR/HLG. Couldn't find this in the 'on demand section' just voice searches it. So not sure where more stuff is.

So guess Disney+ doesn't support HDR as doesn't show in the same place that Lemurs does, that it's in HDR

You have found the HLG content so you are one of those who can show HDR content from your SkyQ box. Content is very limited currently.
App support for HDR is coming later this year..

It's just the following at the moment:

Gangs Of Lemur Island, Pridelands: Wilderness Reborn, and Malawi Wildlife Rescue.

Don't think any live stuff is showing yet, just on demand. You also need to make sure you download them in UHD (can change box settings as will be HD by default).

Disney, Netflix, movies sports etc will come later in the year. Probably just using this as a test phase first, make sure it all runs smoothly and handles it fine, then I guess they will open the rest of stuff slowly.

No charge for it. So :p
So I get it even though I don't have 4K or multiroom? I see no reason why they can't do 1080p HDR but I bet they don't.

Is there a try before you buy option? I was disappointed with Sky's 4K offering but HDR has always, IMHO, may for a bigger picture improvement
