Sky Updated Epg

I'm surprised new boxes are still coming with that knowing how long terrestrial has ceased to exist.

Backwards compatability. You'd be miffed if when you upgrade the box you lose the 2nd TV facility you've been using for 10+ years...

Having said that the DRX595, the HD multiroom box that doesn't record doesn;t have one. I'd imagine if TV manufacturers ever decide to stop shipping TV's with analogue tuners then it'll become pointless.

well i bought a Sky+ HD box off gumtree in preparation for having Sky installed in a few weeks time and decided to set the box up just have it in place so when the engineer does the multiroom setup, I will just tell him to keep the multiroom receiver in the box and I shall keep that as a backup, and to hook up the feed to the box I have bought.

whilst installing the Sky+ HD box i noticed the aerial in, currently I am using the built in HD tuner on my tv, but it can only view/record 1 channel at the same time, i assumed the sky+ hd box must have 2 tuners (since it has 2 sat tuners) and i could hook it up that to record one channel whilst i watch another until sky is installed.

i was rather miffed after unplugging the aerial feed and connecting it to the sky box, that i had zero feed, there is no built in digital freeview tuner at all never mind 2 of them, yet it has an aerial in.

but for some reason they have done it this way to feed the tv and sky around the house at the same time, useful i suppose if you have had your house wired up in this manner but i don't.

at least i know now why it has an aerial in feed.

Has anyone been having sound drop-outs and lip sync issues with the new EPG? I am sure I had no issues before upgrading a week or two back but now get fairly regular sound drop -outs (particularly noticed on Disco HD) and seem to get lip syncing issues (not optical out - direct HDMI to TV) on Channel 4 HD and E4 HD. Not saying these issues haven't been on other channels but certainly noticed them on these channels.

Is there a way to roll back to a previous version (not saying roll back to the old style EPG)?

I to am having lip sinc issues with DD through the HDMI.

I have 80ms delay which helps a bit but is very annoying!!

Looks like they're pushing a new update at the moment, R007.061.49.00P. Gives a run-down of the new features when you turn the box on for the first time after the update, main change appears to be that you can now rent stuff from the Sky Store without needing a phoneline connected.

More info here:

New features include:

•New start up message
•New software update notification
•Network screen modifications
•Broadband callback (single box customer only)
•Improved clashed management

Has anyone with an old Pace TDS850 had any epg update yet, i.e. the one with the HDMI dolby update for starters?

i don't understand why broadband call back is limited to single box customer's only.

especially since most customers that complain about the callback system are those with more than 1 box.

seriously sky, you just implemented something which is going to infuriate multi room customer's even more.

you aren't going to either

only the DX890/5 and multi room HD box's will receive updates from now on is what i can gather from a post on another forum by someone who works for sky.

Because multiroom boxes still require telephone connection to verify their location.
