Sky Updated Epg

I changed mine to Eco the other day to see if it makes a difference but I highly doubt there's much difference in power usage either way. If you want the box to use as little power as possible though, using Eco mode along with having Showcase turned off will reduce power usage when the box isn't in normal use.

why do they issue updates through the satellite feed?

I have had a box sitting here waiting for my sky install date, its connected to the internet and all.

seems like a crazy way to do things, they should be able to update from both connections.

another crazy thing is, why does it have an aerial input when you cannot use it? i mean i plugged an aerial into the box thinking i could view freeview until sky is installed but no, it doesnt work, so why have an aerial input?

is it to force people to pay for one of their cards in order to use freesat if you want free channels?

You can hook up Freeview to it to link to your TV. I have originally done this. Long time ago though.

Not everyone has internet. It's probably why.

No, its probably for co-axial out to 'old' tvs rather than aerial in

Yes, RF1 & 2. I use it to feed an old 14" TV to the kitchen.

Because the satellite feed is guaranteed to be there. There's no benefit I can think of to having it use your internet connection.

As for the aerial, surely you'd just connect that to the TV itself if you want Freeview?

Yes but this was before freeview tuners?

If you plugged your terrestrial aerial into the 'aerial in' on the box and were feeding another TV using a TV link then it would also relay the terrestrial signal via the TV link to save the bother of running a feed to the aerial or having to unplug the aerial lead to plug in the TV link.
