SkyF1 vs Channel 4 coverage of F1

F1 isn't good enough to pay sky prices for.

I might pay 50 ish if the coverage/racing is good. I won't pay 100.
As long as there's a free channel like C4 coverage I'll continue using that.

C4 coverage would have to be really bad for me to stop using it

To me, its just not worth paying much for.
 
I personally watch the quali on Youtube now days. Airs earlier than on C4 and is neatly condensed down. I get to see enough laps during the Race so am not too bothered about missing out on all the action.
 
Sky has been removed today and I signed up to F1TV. Apart from the odd freeze for a second or two everything seemed to work OK. Was exactly the same as Sky coverage.
 
First time I've subjected myself to the Sky commentary in a while today - was it as rage-inducingly awful as this last season?
 
Will probably cancel my Sky sub soon. F1 just doesn’t hold my interest enough like it used to and certainly not enough for the cost. It’s become too much like WWE since Liberty took over. I just don’t buy the engineered fake excitement anymore, there have just been too many questionable decisions made off track. I was hoping to hold on to see what next year brings, but I’m not sure I care.

It certainly isn't worth paying for.
I enjoy it more as highlights.
Watch it for an hour and all the boring bits are cut out. Can watch it before bed etc. Certainly not worth watching live during middle of a sunny summers day.
 
Sky's coverage may be better than C4's but it is not better by the amount I would have to pay to get it. C4's is good enough for me. I set my "Tv box" to record it and start watching about 30 minutes or so after the start so I can Fast Forward the ads.

Yes and no. The main feed you're seeing on Sky is identical to F1TV from the moment that you get the F1TV logo and the montage with the grid line-up. Before that F1TV was in a pre-show that doesn't transition quite as smoothly as on Sky - because F1TV isn't a channel. It's more like watching YouTube or iPlayer.

You get the pre-race show and the post-race show, plus Tech Talk and Jolyon Palmer's analysis are on F1TV. No Teds Notebook sadly. Sky add some commentary on top of what you're seeing on F1TV, like the grid walk, and the commentary straight after the race.
