Slacker DHL Delivery

DHL Delivery today....what a joke. Claimed card left, when he didn't even bother turning up. I was actually at the window at the EXACT time they claim a delivery attempt.
Lying (insert expletive) !!

had similar problems last week.

Checked on the site and it said a card had been left even though I took the day off and was watching and waiting. Phoned up to complain, got the usual what colour was your door?.

Next day they did exactly the same thing, on the site saying a card had been left. 3rd day and I phoned them again apparently the driver was ging to the wrong address for the last 2 days.

Don't like DHL, 3 of my deliveries over christmas with them were a day late - I put that down to it being christmas - but 2 of the 3 I've had since christmas were also a day late* - in all cases they've used a local delivery agent despite this being a fairly built up area. These local delivery agents are decidedly 3rd rate and several times claim they carded when (a) no card was left (b) there was someone working here all day and they never saw them.

I've didn't like city link much either but thay was one of the reasons I used OCuk as city link from them usually did a reasonable job - whereas from other retailers they were pretty poor (probably down to the depot).

* In the latest incident I actually saw a DHL van pull into the top of my road and then drive on again - when the tracking system next updated it showed it being asigned to another agent about that time :(

I had a quality one today, with a big shipment from OcUK.

I was getting the "their not turning up" feeling so checked the DHL website at about 4pm. First it says they attempted delivery at 14:22 but the "Consignee Cannot Be Reached", which was a bit odd since both myself and my GF were home at the time, my GF sitting in the lounge next to the front door.

But then the plot thickens, as it says "Undelivered - adverse weather" at 14:46. O rly, says I. I live in Swindon about 4 miles from the depot, there's no snow at my house, or at the depot, or anywhere in between.

So I drove in there to pick it up, and they tried fobbing me off by saying the delivery driver had probably got stuck in the snow etc. I countered by pointing out there was no snow on any road in Swindon, they countered with "oh maybe he was coming a different way", but I just lol'd and said "well he managed to make it to the depot ok didn't he, and my house is 4 miles away on totally clear roads".

They didn't like it when I said I suspected the driver was more likely just "a lazy workshy slacker who clearly lied about the weatehr so he could knock off early before 3pm" but basically had to agree and apologise when presented with the evidence. :p

I'm sure nothing will be said though. :(

Had a delivery from a (high street) company that does their own direct deliveries today and despite there being 8 inches of snow down a narrow back road to where I live (its only 100yards off the main road) he still got the job done (tho he did say he thought he was mad for doing it lol).

Unless you've actually been out over the past 2 days trying to deliver people's stuff you should really keep your lazyness (etc etc) comments to yourself. It IS dangerous out there, and some people will not be getting their stuff. It's hardly important if you dont get your shiny new toys. The road might be cear but the pavements and people's driveways/garden paths might not be. You could easily have an accident anywhere ... not just on the road in your vehicle.

I've got two drivers out of action atm, one with a suspected concussion and one with a badly bruised/lumpy leg as they both fell over on their way to work.

Our customers were simply pleased to see us today - surprised we were still operating.
We've had drivers have accidents on the way to work too, vehicles stuck all over the place. Some depots will just make a decision and call in the fleet if it's looking unsafe.

Its swings and round abouts...

Parcelforce - Epic, deliver here realy early. Driver is willing to ring the bell and wait for one of us to appear from somewhere on the farm :p , they also arrive nice and early.

DHL - As above! although they don't deliver quite so early..

City Link - Woeful.. a year or two ago they destroyed two X1800 XT graphics cards on the way from Stoke... to my house.. about a 35mile trip... every package I've had from them looks like its been through a washing machine. Therefore I avoid companys who use them!! They also destroyed two Enermax Liberty 620w PSUs, the units themselves were warped  almost as if something very heavy had been ontop of them :(

While I'm not exactly trying to make light of this... strangely in other countries they manage to carry on as normal with a lot more snow than this... was talking to a friend in the US (pennsylvania) - he lives half way up a mountain and has 3 feet of snow and they still managed to deliver his new i7 rig on time.

While over here we have less than a foot of snow and everyone panics and can't seem to function properly or are too dumb to even take simple precautions.

One time at work when I arrived - we open at 9 but I am usually there at 8:10 - turned up at 8:15-8.20 after hanging around for 5-10 mins I noticed 2 x brown boxes near our fire exit gate.

I didn't think anything of it at the time - I thought that our cleaner had used some old boxes to store rubbish - he had been cleaning the car park at the time.

I checked the boxes and they were 2 PS3's from 'A Online Retailer'. I tried to get the management to say we hadn't received them but they decide it was too much hassle. :o :/

Err... because they get that pretty much all the time, so are used to it?

Hmm, could it be because it happens once every five or so years, so it's a waste of money to prepare? Who's going to buy chains for one day out of nearly two thousand? Think about the conditions before you start blaming everyone. The UK aint used to high volumes of snow, that's why we freeze up...

They aren't _that_ used to it tho - sure they get it more than us. The difference is they seem to have the attitude of "lets get on with life and see how we can work around this".

I said simple precautions - not being super prepared - all day I've seen people doing silly things trying to go on with life as if the conditions are normal... driving like idiots and so on. Seems common sense is a dying art these days...

yeah one day he never even knocked, just poped the note through the letter box saing i had to pick it up, luckily i saw him and opened the door....he said just sign here.....i said who.? me.? im not in.!!! and took my new hardware indoors :p was tempted to go to the collection center and see if they could give me another one LOL

I havent had any problems with DHL giving parcels to other companies, becuase i live on a small island it would cost more to give it to other couriers. parcelforce give their orders to dhl over here.

delivery drivers are vicious liars and exist only to cause pain

Quoted for truth.

Imaginary cards through doors and forged signatures are only part of it though. If you saw how they played football with your new graphics card package at the depo you'd probably never order via courier again. Not that royal mail are always much better. I've had lots of packages that could only have been damaged maliciously.

Before I left to go traveling I had three items delivered within three days from Parcelforce. All next day delivery as I needed for my travels (Backpack, shoes and jacket). All three left on the doorstep and driver had signed for them. Easily could have been stolen and messed up my trip!
