Slacker DHL Delivery

Hmm, could it be because it happens once every five or so years, so it's a waste of money to prepare?

Just quick BBC search

We had snow in jan 2003, jan + april + nov 2008, feb 2009, jan 2007, feb + march + nov 2005, feb 2002, march 2006, and so on

So infact, in the last 7 years the only year that we didn't have snow has 2004

Jeeeez dont get me started on delivery men,
almost got my new laptop delivered today.. according to the website delivery failed - reason "other",
presumably the weather ... it was going to my GF's house .. funny i managed to get there !!

Similar thing happened to me, was rather unusual as the person showed up in a little Ford fiesta. It was as if DHL crabbed some random off the street and asked them to deliver my parcel.

Your closer to the truth than you'll ever know! ;)

I've done a bit of 3rd party "same day" delivery work for some couriers over the years, using whatever car I had at the time.

Last job I did,a couple of years ago, I dropped off some documents at some swanky pad near Chelford, Cheshire, in my old Black 7Series BMW, it was like a scene out of the transporter! :D

Could easily make £200+ per day back then, not so sure what its like now.

So how did you get into that, I have spare transport and a fair bit of spare time at the moment..?

Got to admit I was a bit confused when the deliverer of my item yesterday turned up in a 206. But his jacket did say DHL @ Home.

Obviously a branch of DHL that doesn't require them to make many drops or have a big van.

Sorry to hijack, can't remember what the item was but I was expecting something from royal mail.

I saw his van pull up, he didn't even knock on the door, he just put the parcel which was quite a big size on the doorstop which anyone could have taken.

Surely he wasn't allowed to do this? I thought they needed a signature.

Does anyone know what "HSD Out for Delivery awaiting IOD" means?

Been waiting for my router since this morning, left depot at 7am still no sign.

Just moments ago I sprinted to the door to accept my latest OCUK batch, about 10 seconds after the door letterbox was clattered (no use of doorbell) I opened the door -in my dressing gown- to find the delivery guy walking away just after he arrived. I said "You were about to leave were you?" he replied "Aye" handed me the box, no signature required (I recall most of my DHL deliveries being signed for?) he hopped into his red van -no DHL logo- and off he goes.

Anyone else had to sprint to catch a delivery guy who was too lazy to wait?

-I just wanted to add, I'm more than happy with OCUK service, its top notch :D just pity about one offs from the delivery?

wow thats creepy... i read "You were about to leave were you?" in a scottish accent... before even reading your location  (no, im not scottish)

it basically means they are awaiting update of what happens when a delivery attempt is made... in short its on its way.

But don't be suprised if it updates to say something like handed over to local agent or something after that.

BTW Usually when it says "HSD Out for Delivery awaiting IOD" its on the "until" 9pm schedule so don't be suprised if its quite late in the day.

How have DHL been today for anyone expecting deliveries?

OcUK sent my order out yesterday morning nice and early, I was expecting it today.

DHL tracking says

Held - Awaiting Booking-In Date 05/02/09 09:05 - COVENTRY SERVICE CENTRE

What does that mean? Take it I'm not getting my new headphones today?

Personally ive never had probs in my area with dhl city link etc (7:30 to 8 in the morning in Keighley west Yorkshire (hardly next door to any depos, i think is very driver dependant on if u get good front line service , after the front line service level that were you will see the differences in the company’s i recon , like people om general some are ***** some are good and nice :)

I have been waiting for DHL to deliver two days now. Nothing. The usual pathetic lies about them "not able to find me" etc. No cards, no notes, and ofcourse me waiting by the door.

Given the current market conditions I think if everyone starts to cancel their 1,000 quid orders for a start would get them going!

I am so ****** off I plan to cancel mine just for the sake of it. I am fed up.

Might not be OCuk faults but the hard facts are that OCuk is enjoying my capital and I don't have my items.

I'd be surprised if you got them today if there's been no updates since then.

If they weren't able to find you, how would they leave you a card ;)

My bad, they said they could not gain access to the property. Another guy said I did not answer. They kept saying the drivers do not have phones with them etc.

Customer service is open until 06:00 which is not true anyway more like 5:45 they are already home and during the day they keep saying "Well, it is on its way it will be there until 5:30 max". Then ofcourse customer service is closed.

How on earth I am supposed to get my items is something I do not understand.

They are just incompetent, at least in my service center.

With CityLink it was pretty much the same useless service. I wonder if there is a reliable courier nowadays.

The bit about phones is probably true. We don't give our drivers phones either. If they have their own phone and want to use it they can. But most choose not to.

I get the usual DHL deliveries from a subcontrator who looks like Father Christmas, smells like a chimney with a yellow moustache and drives an Audi A6.

Nice bloke though. :)
