Smart Fortwo DCT Mechanical Problem

You'd still be paying 10x more than you need to, further proof that they are trying to rip you off, but what's the point you aren't going to listen to anyone
I'm just confused why have they even got part number A4159905400 on order? Also what about all those other little parts that make up the under trays, guess its time to email the parts department.

By the fact its not on the list of parts on order? I would have thought, if you wanted them to put it all back to how its meant to be then they would order all the bits you require.
Turns out the parts department order whatever the service department tells them to, I've got to contact the service department to find out more. PITA!

Why do you need to find out more?

Presumably the mechanic listed what needed replacing and ordered what's necessary.

It's quite likely that entire assembly comes as a unit for example, including all the covers and fittings. Or they will transfer them from the old one.

Surely the idea of paying dealership rates and leaving it to a mechanic is to, well, let them get on with it. They're liable if they do a bad job so leave it to them.

Indeed.

The whole point of you taking it to the main dealer OP was because it would be done properly and all you had to do was fork out the money, this becomes moot if you start chasing them and questioning them at which point you might as well have taken it elsewhere and saved some cash.

Well after a series of emails they have agreed to use M6x20 bolts rather than the incorrect A4159905400 bolts @ £7.50 each and they may even use the Wurth brand instead of the official Mercedes parts.

Sarcasm aside, it's refreshing to see you come to your senses. How much for the Wurth?

I guarantee they'll be better than the Mercedes ones, Wurth are the cream of the crop when it comes to fixings and fasteners.

Wurth do some lovely stuff. Their hand cleaner is the best I’ve used as well. We use cable ties and hose clips and all sorts from them at work too.
